VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwired) -- 05/30/14 -- Webtech Wireless Inc. (TSX: WEW), a leading provider of vehicle fleet location-based services (LBS) and telematics technology, has been nominated for a Technology Impact Award (TIA) along with its customer, Vedder Transport, a leading BC based Food Grade transport company, in the category of "Best Adoption of Existing Technology".
Founded in 1994 by the British Columbia Technology Industry Association (BCTIA), the TIAs celebrate British Columbia's technology industry, acknowledging the innovative work that people and companies have achieved and contributed to British Columbia's thriving technology landscape.
"The TIAs showcase companies in our own backyard that are developing solutions to support other industry sectors in our province and around the world," said Bill Tam, BCTIA President and CEO. "Having companies like Webtech Wireless in our midst highlights the ways in which BC technology can power other industries and illustrates the expansive possibilities for local tech companies."
"The highest form of recognition is when your peers acknowledge you for delivering a first-class solution to your customers," said Scott Edmonds, President and CEO, Webtech Wireless. "We particularly appreciate this recognition for the solution we implemented with Vedder Transport, where our custom reporting had an immediate and positive impact on their operations and bottom line. When you can help one of the best companies in their industry, you know you've got it right."
Vedder Transport implemented a Webtech Wireless solution when they required a system with the flexibility to measure the performance of their two emerging businesses - dairy and waste hauling. Vedder Transport uses the real-time fleet intelligence provided by the Webtech Wireless solution to enable timely business decisions and improve overall productivity and efficiency. "As a result of the solution from Webtech Wireless, we have seen tangible results, including increased route efficiency and improved driver behavior," said Fred Zweep, President of Vedder Transportation Group.
This is Webtech Wireless' second nomination for a Technology Impact Award in the category of Adoption of Technology having won the award in 2012 for a solution implemented with customer Troyer Ventures. Winners of this year's awards will be announced at the Annual BCTIA awards ceremony, taking place on June 5, 2014.
