Dresner Advisory Services Publishes 2014 Wisdom of Crowds Business Intelligence Market Study

5th Annual Edition Expands Analysis, Provides Unique Look at Business Intelligence Usage Patterns and Technology Trends

NASHUA, NH -- (Marketwired) -- 05/30/14 -- Dresner Advisory Services today issued the new 2014 Wisdom of Crowds® Business Intelligence Market Study. The 5th annual edition of this landmark report builds upon previous years' research and provides expanded analysis of the state of the business intelligence (BI) industry.

The Wisdom of Crowds BI Market Study offers a comprehensive analysis of user trends and evaluates 24 leading BI providers across 5 vendor segments with an added section looking at early stage vendors. The report enables organizations to identify and evaluate software suppliers and compare vendors to industry norms. The 2014 edition examines the importance of 22 different BI technologies and strategic initiatives, including Big Data, advanced and predictive analytics, and end user data blending.

"We are very excited to deliver the 5th annual version of our landmark research focusing on end user business intelligence trends," said Howard Dresner, founder and chief research officer at Dresner Advisory Services. "While retaining the core analysis year over year, the report continues to evolve and expand to cover related areas, providing an in-depth historical examination of the changes within the market while uncovering new BI trends currently gaining traction."

This year's report includes a new assessment of business intelligence and the state of data, providing a more qualitative appraisal of BI maturity and best practices. Also new in 2014, the report looks at action on insight, a measure of the degree to which organizations are using data beyond passive observation and reporting.

"While there is no shortage of studies looking at the BI market and technology, the Wisdom of Crowds research goes directly to the heart of the matter, interviewing end users in all industries and in organizations of all sizes to uncover firsthand what they are experiencing and how they plan to expand their BI usage," continued Mr. Dresner. "With this invaluable user input, we can most accurately assess the strengths and shortcomings of BI deployments today and determine how organizations aspire to expand BI to reach more users within and outside their organization."

The annual Wisdom of Crowds Business Intelligence Market Study is based on data collected on usage and deployment trends, products, and vendors. Users in all roles and throughout all industries worldwide contributed to provide a complete view of realities, plans, and perceptions of the BI market.
