Dedication to a Healthier City Creates Buzz at Copenhagen, Denmark Hotel

Copenhagen Marriott Hotel Adopts Bee Hives to Stimulate a Stronger Society

COPENHAGEN, DENMARK -- (Marketwired) -- 05/30/14 -- There is a definite buzz in the air surrounding one of the premier luxury hotels in Copenhagen as excitement soars over the adoption of two bee colonies residing in cozy organic hives in the beautiful surroundings of the nearby Botanical Gardens.

The Copenhagen Marriott Hotel on Kalvebod Brygge has extended its family to include 160,000 new little striped friends adopted through ByBi, an organization dedicated to making the city buzz with life. Working to make a better society for bees, flowers and the people of Copenhagen, the ByBi mission is to create an urban honey industry that brings new opportunities for people on the edge of the work market while putting Copenhageners in closer contact with urban nature.

The 5-star hotel's partnership with the organization through its adopt-a-bee hive program fosters social responsibility in Copenhagen and helps in creating a positive social impact for many local residents. While the bees work diligently to create honey, ByBi is busy creating a place in society for those in need of a boost by training them in the daily activities of beekeeping. Once trained, the assistant beekeepers make their way around the city tending to the bees, processing and packaging honey, helping with tours or "pushing" honey. Not only does the program impact Copenhagen's social environment, but the bees add to the natural sustainability of the city, creating a healthier and greener environment for plants and people.

As a sponsor, the Copenhagen lodging receives its "own brand" of honey from the new buzzing members of the family and in turn makes the honey available to the public for purchase through its lobby shop. The delicious, locally-produced honey, packaged in two sizes of glass containers may be purchased in a 30 g. glass for 25 Dkr or a 200 g. glass for 55Dkr. All proceeds benefit ByBi's nature-friendly program.
