TELUS Team Turns Out in Record Numbers to "Give Where We Live" on Ninth Annual TELUS Day of Giving

15,000 TELUS volunteers proudly support more than 700 diverse activities from coast-to-coast-to-coast;

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwired) -- 05/30/14 -- (TSX:T)(NYSE:TU) - On Saturday, May 31, more than 15,000 TELUS team members, retirees, friends and family members across Canada will participate in hundreds of diverse volunteer activities during the ninth annual TELUS Day of Giving. Participants will volunteer more than 45,000 hours with local community organizations from Victoria, B.C. to St. John's, NL.

"This weekend, more than 15,000 TELUS volunteers are giving with their hearts and their hands at 700 activities in 36 communities across Canada. In just nine short years, TELUS Day of Giving has mobilized more than 79,000 volunteers at 2,150 activities, further building human connections between our TELUS family and the communities in which we live, work and serve."

By embracing its Give Where We Live philosophy, TELUS, its team members and retirees have contributed more than $350 million to charitable and not-for-profit organizations and volunteered 5.4 million hours of service to local communities since 2000. In 2013 alone, TELUS contributed more than $46 million to charities and non-profit organizations across Canada.

How We Give Where We Live from Coast-to-Coast

This year on TELUS Day of Giving, TELUS team members will roll up their sleeves to help make a difference in their communities across the country, helping more than 400 charitable and non-profit organizations. Here's snapshot of some of the ways TELUS volunteers are making a difference:

In Western Canada, TELUS volunteers will:

--  Tidy and clean up Vancouver's Pacific Assistance Dogs Society facility 
--  Clean, paint and garden at Canuck Place Children's Hospice in Vancouver 
--  Prepare lunch for family members at Ronald Macdonald House in Edmonton 
--  Revitalize and plant annuals in the CNIB Fragrant Garden in Calgary 
--  Engage with challenged youth and clean up at the Hands On Ministries in

In Central Canada:

--  TELUS team members will spruce up the gardens, set up the toddlers
    playground and organize program activity rooms at the Harbourfront
    Community Centre in Toronto 
--  Serve food and refreshments to the clients of The Ottawa Mission during
    a community BBQ 
--  In Quebec, volunteers will engage with visually impaired kids at la
    Ronde and serve lunch to the homeless during a community BBQ at
--  TELUS volunteers will help Strathcona School students and staff spruce
    up their Artful Learning Garden in Winnipeg

In Atlantic Canada:

--  Volunteers in Halifax will help the Nova Scotia SPCA launch its first
    annual Fun Foster Drive, helping animals find their forever homes 
--  TELUS team members, retirees and friends will support the Salvation
    Army's spring cleaning efforts in Fredericton 

In Northern Canada:

--  Volunteers will help repair and refinish the special needs playground at
    the Child Development Centre of the Yukon 
--  In the Northwest Territories, volunteers will help build and landscape a
    park outside the Northwest Territories SPCA facility where families can
    walk, play and get to know their new puppy
