The British fine jewellery brand Boodles is pleased to unveil a new collection of exquisite design led creations, Ocean of Dreams; which will be available in Boodles showrooms from June 2014.
Inspired by a mysterious and magical underwater world, 'Ocean of Dreams' is a couture collection of exquisite, one-off fine jewellery pieces. Diamond and coloured gem stone creations depict stories of the sea with delicate and intricate designs; Pariba Tourmalines symbolise the mesmerising waters of the Atlantic, whilst white marquise diamonds represent the elegant curves of a dolphins fin. Created over a period of two years, each suite creates an individual tale of the ocean whilst demonstrating the exquisite craftsmanship and design that goes into all Boodles fine jewellery.
Director and Head of Stone Sourcing, Jody Wainwright commented: 'When looking for diamonds or coloured stones for Boodles high jewellery collections, we not only ensure that they are of the finest quality; they must poses captivating qualities that go beyond the norm. For example, for our 'Atlantic Blue' suite, we sourced some of the finest Pariba Tourmalines from Pariba, in Brazil; Pariba's are judged on colour and these are electrifying, with a glowing neon blue!'

The human soul is as deep as the ocean. It is an ocean made of thoughts and memories, unspoken yearnings and unconscious desires. To dream is to explore its depths, to immerse oneself in its vastness.
The ocean's unfamiliar flora and other-worldly corals unsettle even as they delight. But their magic and beauty is beyond question. The mysterious creatures of the deep are no less alluring; over the centuries, they have given birth to legends. Dreams are as elusive as mermaids, as intangible as their beauty and as irresistible as their call...
DOLPHINS' SERENADE - Diamonds set in Platinum
When dolphins gather for a serenade, they circle joyfully in the water, revelling in each other's company. But all that can be seen from the surface are the gracefully curved fins that inspire this suite, with marquise diamonds standing out among smaller diamonds, like dolphins among little fish.
The playful earrings are made up of fin-shaped sections zig-zagging downward in an angular fashion, whilst the necklace combines the swirling motions of a dolphins' serenade, with a dramatic drop made up of fin-shaped sections.
ATLANTIC BLUE - Paraiba Tourmaline and Diamonds set in Platinum
In the sea, nothing is still. Everything is alive. The gentle movement of underwater foliage is captured here in swirling platinum set with diamonds. Brilliant blue Paraiba tourmalines evoke the reflection of the sky on shallow waters on a cloudless day.
A hidden coral branch can be found on the delicate cuff, amid delicate curls and love hearts.
Precious Paraiba tourmalines and diamonds are clustered at the pendant's neckline and return dramatically at the drop, styled like a mermaid's purse.
UNDERWATER DREAMS -Tanzanite and diamonds set in Platinum
Ethereal and other-worldly seaweed inspires a diverse suite of dreamy pieces. Tanzanites are encircled by smaller stones that resemble delicate aquatic foliage, like seaweed concealing lost treasure.
The earrings take the form of a trailing stem of tanzanites and diamonds, culminating in a larger stone at the focal point whilst the pear-shaped tanzanite at the heart of the pendant and ring, are surrounded by diamond and tanzanite swirling fronds.
MERMAID'S TALE - Diamonds set in Platinum
Swirls of platinum and diamonds evoke the ripples that remain on the water after a tantalising vision. For centuries, seafarers have told tales of beautiful maidens glimpsed in the water for an instant, only to disappear before the observer can be sure his eyes aren't playing tricks on him. The allure of such beauty, always just out of reach, arouses a deep yearning in the human soul.
Diamonds drop teasingly from the swirl of the earrings, drawing the eye from the elusive prey. The ring features round brilliant and fancy cut diamonds amid the swirling platinum aftermath of a sighting.
SEA STAR - Pink and white Diamonds set in Platinum
A tribute in pink and white diamonds to the starfish, a unique treasure of the deep, whose shape mirrors that of the twinkling celestial bodies above. The cuff is a string of pink diamond starfishes entwined with whirlpools of diamonds.
OCEAN MOON - Chalcedony, Diamonds, Sapphires and Aquamarines set in Platinum
There is no setting richer in mystery and romance than the Caribbean on a clear, still night. Long, milky blue drops of chalcedony evoke the reflection of the moon stretching over the night sea. They contrast beautifully with the sparkling, star-like diamonds and aquamarines of clamshell details, separated by sapphires, all mounted in platinum.
Boodles Ocean Moon pendant features charming fanned shell motifs joining the chain before the luxurious chalcedony drop.
SEASHORE DRIFT - Tourmaline, Diamonds and Seed Pearls set in Platinum
Seashore Drift sees their alluring deep green colour reflected in exquisite tourmaline, set off by iridescent seed pearls and diamonds, to resemble treasures plucked from a magical rock pool.
PASTEL REEF - Aquamarines, Tsavorites, pink and yellow Sapphires, green and yellow Beryls with Diamonds, set in white and yellow Gold
Coral reefs are the gardens of the ocean. Their abundant beds are home to a wealth of flora and beautiful sea creatures. The rich variety of forms and colours to be found there is one of the wonders of the world, and is replicated here in aquamarines, tsavorites, pink and yellow sapphires, green and yellow beryls and pear diamonds, all set in yellow, white and rose gold.
DEEP SEA TREASURE - South sea and freshwater Pearls set in Rose Gold
The deep sea necklace comprises South Sea and freshwater pearls, small diamonds and rose gold seashells. The pearls on the earrings dangle from seashells, moving as if with the ocean current.

More and more companies are looking to microservices as an architectural pattern for breaking apart applications into more manageable pieces so that agile teams can deliver new features quicker and more effectively. What this pattern has done more than anything to date is spark organizational transformations, setting the foundation for future application development. In practice, however, there are a number of considerations to make that go beyond simply “build, ship, and run,” which changes how...

Internet-of-Things discussions can end up either going down the consumer gadget rabbit hole or focused on the sort of data logging that industrial manufacturers have been doing forever. However, in fact, companies today are already using IoT data both to optimize their operational technology and to improve the experience of customer interactions in novel ways. In his session at @ThingsExpo, Gordon Haff, Red Hat Technology Evangelist, will share examples from a wide range of industries – includin...

"We build IoT infrastructure products - when you have to integrate different devices, different systems and cloud you have to build an application to do that but we eliminate the need to build an application. Our products can integrate any device, any system, any cloud regardless of protocol," explained Peter Jung, Chief Product Officer at Pulzze Systems, in this SYS-CON.tv interview at @ThingsExpo, held November 1-3, 2016, at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, CA.

When it comes to cloud computing, the ability to turn massive amounts of compute cores on and off on demand sounds attractive to IT staff, who need to manage peaks and valleys in user activity. With cloud bursting, the majority of the data can stay on premises while tapping into compute from public cloud providers, reducing risk and minimizing need to move large files. In his session at 18th Cloud Expo, Scott Jeschonek, Director of Product Management at Avere Systems, discussed the IT and busin...

Between 2005 and 2020, data volumes will grow by a factor of 300 – enough data to stack CDs from the earth to the moon 162 times. This has come to be known as the ‘big data’ phenomenon. Unfortunately, traditional approaches to handling, storing and analyzing data aren’t adequate at this scale: they’re too costly, slow and physically cumbersome to keep up. Fortunately, in response a new breed of technology has emerged that is cheaper, faster and more scalable. Yet, in meeting these new needs they...
