LOS ANGELES, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 06/06/14 -- Syncretic Media, a European production company, and its European production partner Halcyon Television International of Europe have made a six-figure offer to acquire the rights to "Smoking Gun," an American crime drama television series written by award-winning producer and writer Sutish Sharma of New Street Pictures.
"Smoking Gun" follows the fictional FBI investigation of a civil rights murder in Los Angeles during the turbulence of the 1980s. The case leads the show's protagonist, and world-weary FBI special agent, to the Nicaraguan Contras and the inner sanctum of the Central Intelligence Agency and its connection to drug trafficking in Los Angeles.
"We are very excited about 'Smoking Gun' and look forward to getting production underway," said Halcyon showrunner Pat Andrew, a former entertainment executive for Aaron Spelling. "This whodunit has more twist and turns than a race track on a rainy day."
Syncretic has partnered with Halcyon Television international of Europe, co-owned by investment company Wanda International of Shanghai Inc., to acquire the rights to produce the series for worldwide distribution.
"Smoking Gun" is currently being developed by New Street Pictures at Pinewood Studios in Iver Heath, Buckinghamshire, in the United Kingdom.
