TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 06/06/14 -- For the thirteenth consecutive year - every year since the list's inception - BMO Financial Group has been named one of Canada's Best 50 Corporate Citizens by Corporate Knights. The announcement was made during the annual Corporate Knights Gala on Wednesday in Toronto.
"It's gratifying for all of us at BMO to be included in this select group of companies," said Simon Fish, General Counsel and Chair of BMO's Sustainability Council. "Being recognized for our sustainability performance on environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues means that we're focusing on the issues that really matter most to our customers, employees and other key stakeholders."
The methodology for the Best 50 Corporate Citizens is based on 12 key performance indicators covering resource, employee, and financial management. Companies are scored only against their industry peers and then amalgamated to make up the Best 50 list that covers many different sectors. The ranking is based on publicly disclosed data.
