DALLAS, TX--(Marketwired - June 10, 2014) - Health Wildcatters (HW) alumni companies are celebrating the accomplishment of raising significant funds only six short months after graduation. The first HW Class had twelve diverse companies that are changing the way healthcare is delivered and practiced.
"We always believed that our startups would get significant traction. We are excited for their success and grateful to the wonderful mentors and network of investors in this community," said Dr. Hubert Zajicek, Co-founder & Executive Director of HW.
Not only is this funding important to our startup community, but also indicative of the ever-changing climate in healthcare, innovation and fund raising. Dallas has a growing number of Angel Investors and physician network that have made this possible.
Michael Walsh, CEO of Cariloop, states, "While Health Wildcatters was in session last fall, Dr. Zajicek and company really helped me fine tune 'The Cariloop Story.' Having never raised money previously, I felt myself getting more and more confident each week that I could have an intelligent, discussion with Angels or VCs, handle any concerns that they had."
"Being in the Health Wildcatter accelerator allowed MakeMyPlate to meet many key people of the healthcare industry in the US. They helped us shape the right business model, meet our first clients and last, but very important, they introduced us to our current investors," says Alin Cooperman, CEO of MakeMyPlate.
This kind of growth in early stage health tech companies will not only lead to the creation of jobs in the Dallas area but will also serve to bring other innovative healthcare companies to this region.
A few of the companies that have announced fund raising are:
- Cariloop - $400K
- Cloud 9 - $140K
- Physmodo (previously Kinesio Kinect) - $500K
- MakeMyPlate - $400K
HW is currently accepting applications for the second program, which begins in August. The deadline for applications is June 15
