BALTIMORE, MD -- (Marketwired) -- 06/12/14 -- Apkudo, the mobile device quality assurance company, today announced that the Tier 1 service provider, T-Mobile US Inc., has added Apkudo Approved Application Platform testing to its latest Android smartphone requirements for device manufacturers.
Apkudo's industry-leading analysis will complement T-Mobile's existing pre-launch device approval process by adding app platform testing. By exercising and analyzing over 2000 pre-load, top-pick and core systems apps, the service provider can proactively identify and rectify any customer-impacting issues before a device is sold to customers.
"T-Mobile is really focused on user experience, and adding Apkudo Approved testing will allow them to maintain a leadership position by helping to ensure the smartphones they sell work exactly as intended right out of the gate, increasing subscriber satisfaction and reducing returns," said Josh Matthews, co-founder and CEO of Apkudo.
Today's smartphones are, in effect, application platforms, which means traditional handset "pass/fail" testing methodologies are no longer sufficient to guarantee device performance. The ability for smartphones to provide a stable experience across applications is central to the user experience -- problems with application dependability translate into real device problems, ultimately leading to user dissatisfaction and costly device returns.
Apkudo's proprietary, patent-pending technology includes software and hardware infrastructure for automated execution, interaction, and analysis over a large workload of applications on devices. It simulates actual subscriber usage scenarios in real-world conditions to uncover any issues so they may be corrected before customer launch.
Apkudo will begin analyzing all T-Mobile pre-release devices this month.
The mobile device quality assurance company, Apkudo is pioneering analysis technologies that deeply and holistically test pre-release mobile devices against millions of different possible use-cases and activities to discover bugs and refine the user interface and experience, taking devices from bad to good, and good to great. Apkudo works with many of the world's largest device manufacturers and over 50 U.S. carriers.
Apkudo is headquartered in Baltimore, MD. The Apkudo team includes deep research expertise with mobile operating systems including optimization, usability and performance testing, and is focused on helping the ecosystem deliver the best possible user experience to all device owners.
