OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 06/16/14 -- Department of Canadian Heritage
The Government of Canada is announcing an investment of $11,200 under the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program to support the 8th Haiti en Fete festival. This funding will allow festival organizers Kombite Outaouais to present local artists in a variety of music and dance performances with a focus on Haitian culture during the three-day event.
Royal Galipeau, Member of Parliament (Ottawa-Orleans), made this announcement today on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.
-- The festival will be held from July 18 to 20, 2014, on Petrie Island, an island in the Ottawa River east of the City of Ottawa. -- The festival organizer, Kombite Outaouais, was created in 2007 to promote the artistic and cultural heritage of the Haitian community and the many other Francophone minorities in Ontario. -- Kombite Outaouais has received a total of $69,700 through the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program since 2009-2010 for the festival.
