UberRUSH Offers Free Pickup for Donations From Manhattan Residents

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - June 17, 2014) - WebThriftStore, a leading online fundraising platform that turns excess stuff into cash for charities, today announced a special designer donation drive in partnership with Uber and New York Cares. During the weekend of June 20th to 22nd, Manhattan residents will be able to quickly and easily donate their unused designer goods to benefit New York Cares.

Thousands of New York Cares supporters will have the opportunity to clean out their closets and donate their excess designer items by opening Uber app from their smartphones, tapping UberRUSH, typing special promotion code "webthriftstore" and requesting a free pickup for delivery to WebThriftStore headquarters at 221 West 17th Street. All donated items will be listed for sale on New York Cares' online thrift store

"New York Cares is excited to partner with WebThriftStore and UberRUSH for this unique donation drive," said Gary Bagley, New York Cares Executive Director. "We strive to provide innovative and impactful opportunities for New Yorkers to make a difference in their communities, whether through volunteerism or financial support. WebThriftStore serves as a new and creative way to support our work and this drive is another excellent opportunity for New Yorkers to give back."

Each UberRUSH messenger can carry one bag weighing a maximum of 30 pounds and can pick up donations at any address below 125th Street in Manhattan. Donors are encouraged to donate designer goods such as women's shoes, handbags, clothing, electronics, watches, and jewelry.

"The opportunity to partner with Uber and New York Cares helps us further the WebThriftStore mission," said Doug Krugman, founder and CEO of WebThriftStore. "To be connected with such prestigious brands is an honor and we look to the charity designer drive as a model to replicate in other cities as UberRUSH rolls out across the country."

Providing the needed data for application development and testing is a huge headache for most organizations. The problems are often the same across companies - speed, quality, cost, and control. Provisioning data can take days or weeks, every time a refresh is required. Using dummy data leads to quality problems.
