Jack Welch Management Institute’s Executive MBA Program Receives ACBSP Accreditation

The Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) Baccalaureate/Graduate Degree Board of Commissioners has awarded the Jack Welch Management Institute (JWMI) at Strayer University accreditation of its executive Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree program. ACBSP accreditation certifies that the teaching and learning processes within the JWMI program meet the rigorous educational standards established by ACBSP.

“The Jack Welch Management Institute has exhibited outstanding leadership and commitment to quality in executive business education throughout our accreditation process,” said ACBSP director of accreditation Steve Parscale. “Our organization, which awards accreditation to institutions with only top-tier processes for curricula, faculty, student and process development, is pleased to formally recognize JWMI’s excellence in each of these areas.”

ACBSP is a specialized accreditation association for business education that supports and rewards teaching excellence. Accreditation by ACBSP is based on an independent evaluation of an institution’s business school or program by a group of professionals, including business faculty and academic administrators.

“Widely recognized by employers, this prestigious accreditation by ACBSP is validation of the academic offerings and processes we have in place to help our students gain the applicable skills and concepts they will need to succeed in today’s demanding business environment,” said Andrea Backman, Ph.D., dean of the Jack Welch Management Institute. “In addition to bringing together the fundamentals of management and leadership using a ‘learn today, apply tomorrow’ approach, our MBA program engages our students with real-time, world-class insights from today’s top business leaders – starting with our partner, chair of the JWMI board, and namesake, celebrated CEO Jack Welch.”

The Jack Welch Management Institute is a part of Strayer University, which is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. MSCHE is the same organization that accredits universities such as Georgetown, Columbia, Temple, Syracuse, and Johns Hopkins.

The Jack Welch Management Institute offers the online executive MBA program, as well as intensive Executive Certificates in “Becoming a Leader” and “Creating a Winning Strategy.” It also recently partnered with Skillsoft for exclusive, global distribution of its Welch Way leadership development courses.

ACBSP is a leading specialized accreditation association for business education supporting, celebrating, and rewarding teaching excellence. Established in 1988, ACBSP is the only business accrediting organization for all associate, bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degree programs. Its mission is to promote continuous improvement and recognize excellence in the accreditation of business education programs around the world.

The Jack Welch Management Institute at Strayer University will receive a Certificate of Accreditation at the ACBSP Annual Conference in Chicago on June 27.

A strange thing is happening along the way to the Internet of Things, namely far too many devices to work with and manage. It has become clear that we'll need much higher efficiency user experiences that can allow us to more easily and scalably work with the thousands of devices that will soon be in each of our lives. As Marc Andreessen says software is eating the world. Everything is rapidly moving toward being software-defined – from our phones and cars through our washing machines to the datacenter. You know you need the cloud, but you’re hesitant to simply dump everything at Amazon since you know that not all workloads are suitable for cloud. You know that you want the kind of ease of use and scalability that you get with public cloud, but your applications are architected in a way that makes the public cloud a non-starter. You’re looking at private cloud solutions based on hyperconverged infrastructure, but you’re concerned with the limits inherent in those technologies.

The cloud era has reached the stage where it is no longer a question of whether a company should migrate, but when. Enterprises have embraced the outsourcing of where their various applications are stored and who manages them, saving significant investment along the way. Plus, the cloud has become a defining competitive edge. Companies that fail to successfully adapt risk failure. The media, of course, continues to extol the virtues of the cloud, including how easy it is to get there. Migrating...
The use of containers by developers -- and now increasingly IT operators -- has grown from infatuation to deep and abiding love. But as with any long-term affair, the honeymoon soon leads to needing to live well together ... and maybe even getting some relationship help along the way.
