MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA -- (Marketwired) -- 06/23/14 -- Battelle and Birling Avian Laboratories scientists will discuss using Battelle's PRIA Food Safety Software to anticipate and mitigate food contamination events at Australia's premier food science and technology conference.
Now six months into the customization process, Birling scientists will discuss:
- its vision for using risk-based software analytics to improve safety across the Australian food supply chain;
- how it is incorporating Battelle's predictive analytics software into its supply chain operations;
- highlights of long-term economic benefits of predictive modeling;
- plans for further integrating Battelle's predictive modeling and data management capabilities.
PRIA, Probabilistic Risk Informed Analysis, is a software and modeling tool that allows food safety professionals to proactively assess the effectiveness of mitigation strategies -- before an event occurs. It allows processors to move away from spread sheets and perform high quality assessments that are quicker, more mathematically robust and better documented for regulatory purposes.
PRIA uses powerful mathematical algorithms to perform rapid simulations that take into account all the variables involved in the process, down to the granular level, in order to pinpoint areas of risk and improve consumer safety by addressing product recalls and improving product quality.
Who: Birling Avian Laboratory's Anthony Pavic, Chief Scientific Officer and Regulatory Affairs Manager. Battelle's Brian Hawkins, PRIA Developer and Research Leader.
What: Operational Update on PRIA customization at Australian Institute of Food Science and Technology (AIFST) 47th Annual Convention, June 22-25.
Where: Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, as part of the session entitled "Delivering the Goods, National Supply Chain Economics."
When: 12:35p.m. June 24.
Why: To share groundbreaking progress on innovative food safety tool in action.

In the rush to compete in the digital age, a successful digital transformation is essential, but many organizations are setting themselves up for failure. There’s a common misconception that the process is just about technology, but it’s not. It’s about your business. It shouldn’t be treated as an isolated IT project; it should be driven by business needs with the committed involvement of a range of stakeholders.
