Korn Ferry Launches New Big Data Talent Analytics Engine to Help Organizations Select Top Leaders and Assess Overall Talent Performance

Korn Ferry (NYSE:KFY), a single source of leadership and talent consulting services, today announced the launch of Korn Ferry’s Four Dimensions of Leadership & Talent (KF4D). KF4D, which will serve as the firm’s new talent intelligence “engine,” helps companies to identify top talent for their organizations, assess performance and developmental gaps of their leaders, measure the effectiveness of their global talent workforce overall – and even compare their level of talent to their industry peers.

Underpinning KF4D is Korn Ferry’s incomparable talent intelligence, which includes more than 2.5 million assessments (heavily weighted by the very top executive levels) and profiles of 8.5 million candidates. This information is believed to comprise the largest senior executive-assessed database in the world.

Leveraging this unprecedented amount of talent-focused Big Data, Korn Ferry’s team of social scientists developed this framework around the four crucial areas that matter most for individual and organizational success – competencies, experiences, traits and drivers.

  • Competencies — the skills and behaviors required for success that can be observed.
  • Experiences — assignments or roles that prepare a person for future opportunities.
  • Traits — inclinations, aptitudes and natural tendencies, including personality and intellectual capacity.
  • Drivers — values and interests that influence a person’s career path, motivation, and engagement.

Research shows these four areas to be highly predictive of performance differences, and correlated with all key talent variables: engagement, retention, productivity, leadership effectiveness, and leadership potential.

By focusing on these four areas and utilizing KF4D to analyze their workforce, organizations will have a much more intelligent, sophisticated and real-time understanding of their overall global workforce performance and potential – including talent strengths and gaps, areas to develop overall – and even how they stack up against their competition.

“In today’s slow growth, fast change environment the issues are vastly complex. An organization’s ability to identify, measure and project the effectiveness of their talent is critical,” said Gary D. Burnison, CEO, Korn Ferry. “With the launch of Korn Ferry’s Four Dimensions of Leadership and Talent we are taking a giant step forward in helping our clients assess the performance and potential of their current and future leaders.”

KF4D was born from the best intellectual property and databases of four industry titans – PDI Ninth House, Lominger, Global Novations and Decision Dynamics. The state-of-the-art platform, which harnesses Korn Ferry talent intelligence spanning every industry and job function, with a heavy population of C-suite, Board Director and senior leadership roles – will provide global organizations with robust diagnostics at both the individual and enterprise levels.

The firm will deploy KF4D as the engine for its executive search and professional recruiting processes, leadership development and consulting and recruitment process outsourcing engagements, as well as internal hiring and leadership development efforts.

“Korn Ferry’s Four Dimensions of Leadership and Talent targets what matters most for each role and each business. It takes the talent conversation well beyond the resume and past experiences to focus on real differentiators for performance. That means a better fit for hires, and a smarter approach to the development of people to drive a company’s ongoing success,” said Stu Crandell, Senior Vice President, Global Offerings, Korn Ferry Institute.

Accompanying the launch, the Korn Ferry Institute issued a white paper, Precision Talent Intelligence: The Four Dimensions of Leadership and Talent,” which examines and explores how human performance in the workplace is governed by competencies, experiences, traits, and drivers. In the midst of the widespread popularity and adoption of cloud computing, it seems like everything is being offered “as a Service” these days: Infrastructure? Check. Platform? You bet. Software? The cloud has transformed how we think about software quality. Instead of preventing failures, we must focus on automatic recovery from failure.
