Ekinops, a leading provider of next-generation optical transport solutions to carriers and private network operators, introduced today its new 100G solution optimized for metro and regional network applications.
The solution was designed specifically for network operators who need to cost-effectively move massive amounts of data between multiple sites and cover distances of up to 1000 km.
“We took the time to talk to a number of large network operators to understand the requirements that were critical for their applications,” noted Francois Xavier Ollivier, COO of Ekinops. “They told us they wanted coherent 100G, not only for their long-haul applications but also for their metro and regional networks, in order to increase capacity and reach.
"That’s exactly what we have delivered and are launching now, with an unmatched performance-over-cost ratio.”
Ekinops' 100G metro and regional solution leverages true coherent technology as the foundation for a new 100G transponder and 100G muxponder. The 100G modules can be deployed in Ekinops’ compact C200HC chassis (2RU) and C600HC chassis (7RU). Each chassis can support multiple modules for very high density.
Thanks to its expertise in delivering highly integrated systems, Ekinops has produced an extremely energy-efficient, compact, high-capacity metro solution, one that yields significant operational savings for customers.
“One of Ekinops' missions is to provide simple, quick, and easy-to-install solutions," Ollivier said. "This new metro/regional offering combined with our amplifiers supporting auto turn-up, auto-tuning, and auto-balancing will make the deployment virtually plug-and-play. This will give carriers great service velocity and adaptability for both anticipated and unanticipated growth.”
Ekinops is a leading supplier of next-generation optical transport equipment for telecommunications service providers. The Ekinops 360 addresses Metro, Regional, and Long-Haul applications with a single, highly-integrated platform. Ekinops is a market-leading innovator in 100G transport with a coherent line of products that truly optimizes optical networks and comes in 1RU, 2RU or 7RU chassis. The Ekinops 360 relies on the highly-programmable Ekinops T-Chip® (Transport-on-a-Chip) architecture that enables fast, flexible and cost-effective delivery of new services for high-speed, high-capacity transport. Using the Ekinops 360 carrier-grade system, operators can simply increase capacity of their networks – CWDM, DWDM, Ethernet, ESCON, Fibre Channel, SONET/SDH, and uncompressed video (HD-SDI, SD-SDI, ASI). Ekinops is headquartered in Lannion, France, and Ekinops Corp., a wholly-owned subsidiary, is incorporated in the USA. For more information, visit www.ekinops.net.
StarNet Communications Corp has announced the addition of three Secure Remote Desktop modules to its flagship X-Win32 PC X server. The new modules enable X-Win32 to safely tunnel the remote desktops from Linux and Unix servers to the user’s PC over encrypted SSH. Traditionally, users of PC X servers deploy the XDMCP protocol to display remote desktop environments such as the Gnome and KDE desktops on Linux servers and the CDE environment on Solaris Unix machines. XDMCP is used primarily on comp...

Enterprises have forever faced challenges surrounding the sharing of their intellectual property. Emerging cloud adoption has made it more compelling for enterprises to digitize their content, making them available over a wide variety of devices across the Internet. In his session at 19th Cloud Expo, Santosh Ahuja, Director of Architecture at Impiger Technologies, will introduce various mechanisms provided by cloud service providers today to manage and share digital content in a secure manner....
