The Society for Worldwide Medical Exchange (SWME), an international non-profit organization dedicated to the continuing education of physicians worldwide, is proud to announce its new course for Latin America focused on type 2 diabetes.
Diagnosis, Control and Treatment of Type 2 Diabetes: Practical Application of the 2013 ALAD Guidelines, will run from September to October 2014. This unique online course has been organized by SWME, the Asociación Latinoamericana de Diabetes (ALAD) and the Sociedad de Diabetología y Nutrición del Uruguay in an effort to disseminate effective guidelines and therapeutic options for medical professionals across the region.
Special attention is given to the course because of its distinguished faculty and advisory committee including Drs. Félix Manuel Escaño Polanco (República Dominicana), President of ALAD, Ana Lía Cagide (Argentina), Vice President of ALAD, Iván Darío Sierra Ariza (Colombia), Past-President of ALAD, Carlos Aguilar Salinas (México), Investigator of Medical Sciences at Instituto Nacional de Ciencias Medicas y Nutricion and Antônio Chacra (Brasil), Chief of the Endocrinology Department at the Federal University of Sao Paulo.
The 2-month, 26 study hour online course, available in Spanish and Portuguese, will be delivered using a proprietary online methodology. Utilizing asynchronous learning, the course ensures a student-centered environment where learners can access the curriculum at any time. The real-time, interactive web-based teaching and networking platform gives doctors anywhere in the world the ability to attend world-class medical education programs, share knowledge and best practices, and network at an international level. By focusing on clinical study, physicians are able to work in groups and individually to discuss and resolve clinical cases. These learned skills can then be applied directly in their practice.
The Society for Worldwide Medical Exchange (SWME) is an international non-profit organization uniting doctors around the world to advance global health through continuing medical education. Recognizing health as a fundamental human right, SWME works to strengthen health care delivery in developing communities by breaking down barriers to quality medical education. SWME believes that if we take action as a united global medical community, together we can fight diseases, develop cures and save lives.
