The Compact, Powerful imageFORMULA DR-M160II Delivers Exceptional Image Quality and Smart, Accurate Data Capture

Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, announced today the addition of a new office document scanner, the imageFORMULA DR-M160II. Designed to meet the needs of today’s busy offices, this compact and user-friendly scanner delivers high-quality image processing and intelligent software solutions that streamline office workflows through intuitive document capture, conversion and communication features.

With speeds up to 60 pages-per-minute (PPM)1 and the ability to scan both sides of a document in a single pass, the imageFORMULA DR-M160II can help workgroups large and small quickly translate their paper-based information into digital data that is easily searched, stored, and shared. Through this device’s exceptional performance, offices can establish efficient document capture workflows and increase overall output and productivity.

High Quality Imaging

In addition to fast scanning speeds and dual-sided processing capabilities, the imageFORMULA DR-M160II scanner is equipped with additional features that help improve legibility, mixed-batch scanning and data searching. For hard-to-capture documents, such as hand written notes or receipts, Character Emphasis will pull through the text or image so the information is clear and easy to read. The Auto Resolution feature automatically adjusts the output resolution of mixed batches of documents and photographs to improve image quality while reducing the file size for easy storage. With Optical Character Recognition, scanned documents are converted into digital content that can be edited and searched.

An upgrade to Kofax Virtual ReScan (VRS) Elite™ is also included with the DR-M160II scanner at no additional charge. Kofax VRS Elite reduces the time involved in manual document preparation and enhances the quality of scanned images, dramatically improving both manual scanning productivity and the efficiency of document capture processes. It can automatically examine documents and apply the correct settings to deliver high-quality scanned images.

Robust Suite of Bundled Software Applications

The imageFORMULA DR-M160II scanner provides users with a variety of intuitive software solutions that further widens the scope of capture and output capabilities. The bundled Canon and third-party software applications help to simplify document scanning and information distribution, maximize image quality and scanner performance, share information directly from the scanner with cloud applications2 such as Microsoft SharePoint, and easily create and edit PDF files.

Flexibility and Reliable Scanning

The imageFORMULA DR-M160II scanner is equipped to reliably handle a variety of documents – from large, oversized papers to embossed plastic cards. The DR-M160II delivers exceptional handling performance thanks to a new roller system designed to help ensure more unattended and seamless scanning.

Pricing and Availability

The imageFORMULA DR-M160II scanner is available now for an MSRP of $1195.3 For more information on the imageFORMULA DR-M160II Office Document Scanner, visit

You have your devices and your data, but what about the rest of your Internet of Things story? Two popular classes of technologies that nicely handle the Big Data analytics for Internet of Things are Apache Hadoop and NoSQL. Hadoop is designed for parallelizing analytical work across many servers and is ideal for the massive data volumes you create with IoT devices. NoSQL databases such as Apache HBase are ideal for storing and retrieving IoT data as “time series data.”

Mobile, social, Big Data, and cloud have fundamentally changed the way we live. “Anytime, anywhere” access to data and information is no longer a luxury; it’s a requirement, in both our personal and professional lives. For IT organizations, this means pressure has never been greater to deliver meaningful services to the business and customers.
Today’s connected world is moving from devices towards things, what this means is that by using increasingly low cost sensors embedded in devices we can create many new use cases. These span across use cases in cities, vehicles, home, offices, factories, retail environments, worksites, health, logistics, and health. These use cases rely on ubiquitous connectivity and generate massive amounts of data at scale. These technologies enable new business opportunities, ways to optimize and automate, al...

As-a-service models offer huge opportunities, but also complicate security. It may seem that the easiest way to migrate to a new architectural model is to let others, experts in their field, do the work. This has given rise to many as-a-service models throughout the industry and across the entire technology stack, from software to infrastructure. While this has unlocked huge opportunities to accelerate the deployment of new capabilities or increase economic efficiencies within an organization, i...
