According to the Journal of Patient Safety, a whopping 210,000 to 440,000 deaths attributable to preventable medical errors occur in hospitals every year, indicating an urgent need for a technology solution. Amadeus Consulting recently announced completion of the Gold Release software for the Consolidated Healthcare and Resource Management System (CHaRM™), an eChecklist-based patient safety system developed for Parallax Enterprises, LLC, of Baltimore, Md.
“Amadeus Consulting helped us take aviation-style checklists and make them uniquely medical,” said Parallax Enterprises chief executive officer Dr. Jeffrey Woolford. “Our product is not a one-size-fits-all paper checklist, it is a fully automated eChecklist system that allows physicians to interact with it during the procedure using gesture and voice commands.”
Amadeus Consulting incorporated gesture-sensitive and voice-recognition technology using Kinect for Windows, which allows surgeons to run through a customized eChecklist within a sterile operating room environment. With a Windows Presentation Foundation graphical subsystem and Kendo UI framework, medical personnel can quickly access patient details with intuitive navigation screens. A .NET framework offers efficient memory management for storing confidential patient data.
"The Amadeus Consulting team is very excited to have created a revolutionary technology software that helps reduce medical mistakes in the operating room," said Jay Millard, chief operating officer for Amadeus Consulting. "We look forward to Parallax connecting this system with medical professionals in facilities around the world to better serve patients and save lives."
