Vidyo was named Software Video Conferencing Provider of the Year at the 2014 Frost & Sullivan India ICT Awards banquet held at Le Meridien in New Delhi. Vidyo was chosen for this prestigious award because of its proven leadership within the visual communications market. Vidyo continues to drive innovation by developing and patenting technology that creates breakthrough video conferencing software solutions and applications that offer affordable, high quality, highly scalable, and reliable video conferencing deployments perfect for any enterprise or service provider.

Congratulating Vidyo on the award, Mr. Benoy CS, Director, ICT Practice, Frost & Sullivan said, “Vidyo has been a force to reckon with in superior understanding of customer requirements, adaptation of the best of technology, enabling interoperability of the highest standards and all at affordable prices.”

“We are honored to receive this recognition from Frost & Sullivan and believe it’s an indicator that software solutions best match customer needs and reflect where the market is headed,” said Ofer Shapiro, CEO & co-founder, Vidyo. “Vidyo has seen an overwhelming response in India and as the economy and workforce continue to grow, our software-based video conferencing offerings will continue to address the country’s evolving business requirements. Through our VidyoWorks™ platform, businesses can deploy large scale, low bandwidth solutions at a fraction of the price of other market vendors, allowing for day-to-day business communications to take place anytime, anywhere, and on any device.”

The VidyoWorks software-based platform provides an unmatched high definition (HD) video, voice and collaboration experience that dynamically adapts to the capabilities of desktops, laptops, and mobile devices while optimizing low bandwidth networks which is very important to the Indian market. Vidyo’s unique infrastructure allows customers to affordably achieve their highly scalable visual communications goals with exceptional quality, which in turn has led to great success in enterprise, healthcare, government, financial services, education and service providers, requiring large room system or desktop deployments. Vidyo powers some of the largest video projects in India, with one single customer deploying a single network with over 1000 VidyoRoom™ systems and another customer with a deployed system with capacity to support over 16,000 desktop users on a hosted Vidyo platform.

Vidyo recently disrupted the market once again when it announced the industry’s first Ultra HD or 4K Software Room System. The new VidyoRoom Software Edition (SE) and 4K software upgrade for currently deployed VidyoRoom™ HD-230 and VidyoPanorama™ 600 systems provides enterprise customers with market-shifting pricing and exceptional quality. These new products are in a long line of Vidyo “firsts” in the market to:

  • Leverage Scalable Video Coding (SVC) in real-time video communications to deliver a reliable high quality experience over the public Internet and wireless networks
  • Deliver video, audio, and content conferencing at the cost of audio only conferencing
  • Deliver HD multipoint video conferencing using mobile, desktop or room endpoints over a standard Internet connection
  • Virtualize UC-aware telepresence offerings
  • Enable rendering of content and video in Ultra HD
  • Deliver 4K-ready infrastructure and offer 4K rendering endpoints as a software-only upgrade
  • Provide a fully-functional, software-only group solution with performance capability greater than immersive telepresence systems

The Award recipients were judged on a variety of parameters that included revenue growth, market share growth, product portfolio diversity, key achievements, and go-to-market strategy, and involved in-depth primary interviews of various industry participants and secondary research conducted by Frost & Sullivan analysts. An elite panel of jury members comprising prominent CIOs/CTOs from the collaboration industry evaluated the compiled data and incorporated the end-user perspective. Frost & Sullivan then presented the Awards to companies that received the highest number industry rank in each category.

WebRTC has had a real tough three or four years, and so have those working with it. Only a few short years ago, the development world were excited about WebRTC and proclaiming how awesome it was. You might have played with the technology a couple of years ago, only to find the extra infrastructure requirements were painful to implement and poorly documented. This probably left a bitter taste in your mouth, especially when things went wrong.
