Eco-Shift Power Corp (OTCQB: ECOP) Begins Alpha Testing Light Management Module of Virtual Powerplant Platform

CAMBRIDGE, ON--(Marketwired - July 07, 2014) - Eco-Shift Power Corp (OTCQB: ECOP)

Today Eco-Shift (ECOP) announced that it has begun alpha testing on the Light Management module of its Virtual Powerplant Platform (VPP). The VPP will provide a modern web-based user interface that is accessible by any web browser via desktop, laptop, tablet or smartphone.

ECOP is a respected leader and innovator in the specialized RF Wireless Light Management and Lighting Solutions Field.

Clients will benefit from complete cloud-level access to a world class Converged Energy Platform. The VPP provides commercial and industrial energy users with the ability to transform their facilities into smart, energy efficient and cash-flow-positive buildings. The Light Management module integrates seamlessly with ECOP's state-of-the-art, IP-addressable light fixtures that have wireless communication.

Clients will have complete control over their lighting infrastructure with the ability to automatically dim lights to more suitable levels, or create pre-programmed schedules based on existing operating hours to cut back on consumption when areas of the facility are unoccupied. The system will also allow users to schedule their lights to dim to appropriate levels during times of estimated peak demand and high electricity costs.

"The Light Management module is the cornerstone of our Virtual Powerplant Platform," says ECOP CEO Gib Wood. "Additional VPP modules are being developed which will allow for control of additional building components including HVAC, compressors and more."

"We are extremely excited by the positive test results and user-friendly software interface. Our clients will benefit from significant energy savings due to the combination of our ultra high efficiency LED products and our Virtual Powerplant Platform. Clients will be able to program their lights to automatically dim to desired percentages based on multiple parameters including motion sensing, daylight harvesting, and planned inactivity such as employee shift-changes. The fact that this can be done automatically and without business interruption means that clients will be able to add to their bottom line day in and day out, effortlessly" says Wood.

ECOP's Virtual Powerplant Platform will provide numerous benefits to clients:

  • Secure Wireless Communication between individual fixtures and the VPP Software
  • A front page dashboard that shows energy savings, lighting system health, schedule, and more
  • Immediate alert functions to let the client know if there is an issue with a fixture
  • Seamless integration with ECOP's superior LED product line
  • The option for clients to expand their VPPP to include other building components such as HVAC and compressors, as well as energy demand management and demand response
  • Remote software updates and cloud-based client support

ECOP Lighting Solutions and Energy Management serves a client roster including Mattel, ThyssenKrupp, and Parmalat. With a foundation in new-era LED lighting and wireless and web-enabled technologies, ECOP is transitioning clients' decision making from old, fixed technology to the new information age.

More and more brands have jumped on the IoT bandwagon. We have an excess of wearables – activity trackers, smartwatches, smart glasses and sneakers, and more that track seemingly endless datapoints. However, most consumers have no idea what “IoT” means. Creating more wearables that track data shouldn't be the aim of brands; delivering meaningful, tangible relevance to their users should be. We're in a period in which the IoT pendulum is still swinging. Initially, it swung toward "smart for smar...
operations aren’t merging to become one discipline. Nor is operations simply going away. Rather, DevOps is leading software development and operations – together with other practices such as security – to collaborate and coexist with less overhead and conflict than in the past. Web Real-Time Communication APIs have quickly revolutionized what browsers are capable of. In addition to video and audio streams, we can now bi-directionally send arbitrary data over WebRTC's PeerConnection Data Channels. With the advent of Progressive Web Apps and new hardware APIs such as WebBluetooh and WebUSB, we can finally enable users to stitch together the Internet of Things directly from their browsers while communicating privately and securely in a decentralized way.
All clouds are not equal. To succeed in a DevOps context, organizations should plan to develop/deploy apps across a choice of on-premise and public clouds simultaneously depending on the business needs. This is where the concept of the Lean Cloud comes in - resting on the idea that you often need to relocate your app modules over their life cycles for both innovation and operational efficiency in the cloud. In his session at @DevOpsSummit at19th Cloud Expo, Valentin (Val) Bercovici, CTO of So...
Enterprises have been using both Big Data and virtualization for years. Until recently, however, most enterprises have not combined the two. Big Data's demands for higher levels of performance, the ability to control quality-of-service (QoS), and the ability to adhere to SLAs have kept it on bare metal, apart from the modern data center cloud. With recent technology innovations, we've seen the advantages of bare metal erode to such a degree that the enhanced flexibility and reduced costs that cl...

DevOps is speeding towards the IT world like a freight train and the hype around it is deafening. There is no reason to be afraid of this change as it is the natural reaction to the agile movement that revolutionized development just a few years ago. By definition, DevOps is the natural alignment of IT performance to business profitability. The relevance of this has yet to be quantified but it has been suggested that the route to the CEO’s chair will come from the IT leaders that successfully ma...
What happens when the different parts of a vehicle become smarter than the vehicle itself? As we move toward the era of smart everything, hundreds of entities in a vehicle that communicate with each other, the vehicle and external systems create a need for identity orchestration so that all entities work as a conglomerate. Much like an orchestra without a conductor, without the ability to secure, control, and connect the link between a vehicle’s head unit, devices, and systems and to manage the ...
