Gene Austin Joins Abila Board of Directors

Abila today announced the addition of Gene Austin, chief executive officer, president and director of Bazaarvoice, to its board of directors. Austin becomes the fifth member of Abila’s board.

“With his experience serving nonprofit and association customers, Gene is familiar with the strategic and financial decisions they have to make as they work to advance their missions and goals,” said Krista Endsley, Abila CEO. “Beyond his exceptional leadership skills, business acumen and proven success at growing companies, Gene’s operational and technical expertise make him a great addition to our board of directors. Prior to his current role at Bazaarvoice, Austin served as president and CEO of Convio, Inc. Austin led the growth of Convio through a successful initial public offering and ultimately its acquisition by Blackbaud. While at the helm, Convio built a strong reputation for customer service and for delivering innovative and effective SaaS-based software solutions to the nonprofit sector. During his tenure, Convio powered the online fundraising and constituent relationship management programs for some the world’s most well-known nonprofits and associations, helping them increase their fundraising and revenue generation programs, and more efficiently and effectively manage relationships and operations.

Austin also served as BMC Software's vice president and general manager of Enterprise Data Management and previously worked at Dell as vice president and general manager of Internet Servers. He also served as senior vice president of sales and marketing at Careerbuilder.com, where he contributed significantly to growth leading to a 1999 public offering.
