USARAD Holdings Inc., a leading U.S. Joint Commission Accredited teleradiology and telemedicine solutions provider launched SecondOpinions.com® only one year ago. Today SecondOpinions.com® is making strides both nationally and internationally with a growing customer base and prestigious collaborations with top medical service providers and educators around the world. In September, SecondOpinions.com® will be featured on a national daytime TV show with the potential exposure of close to 100,000,000 people in the USA alone.
Double board certified radiologist Michael Yuz, MD, MBA, is Founder & CEO of SecondOpinions.com®. Like many other successful companies, the idea for SecondOpinions.com® came about after his family experienced a medical emergency. When his son Jonathan was just three years old, Dr. Yuz and his wife discovered their son paralyzed one morning in his bed.
(Watch Dr. Yuz tell the story in his own words at: https://secondopinions.com/jonathans-story-and-the-evolution-of-secondopinionscom.html)
When they took the child to a local pediatrician, emergency room and imaging center, doctors were puzzled. Living in a rural community at the time, no specialists were available on a weekend to examine their son. Dr. Yuz began searching the internet for the nearest specialist only to find one located hours away. “We had no other option but to drive four hours to the specialist," said Yuz. “We were so frightened but fortunately once Jonathan was examined by an expert, we learned he had a congenital condition also experienced by his grandfather when he was little. We learned it could be treated with medication. We finally had an answer and some peace of mind.”
After the terrifying ordeal Dr. Yuz realized other families were facing the same challenge and had the idea of leveraging the power of the internet to bring top specialist physicians to patients around the world. SecondOpinions.com® was born out of necessity. Dr. Yuz saw the need and filled the void.
SecondOpinions.com® provides customers with expert medical opinions from specialists and subspecialists. Patients simply upload digital images (MRI, CT etc.) to a secure, confidential platform and reports are received within as quickly as an hour. Doctors in every medical specialty are available to provide consultations via phone or video chat. Preventable medical errors kill and seriously injure hundreds of thousands of Americans every year. It was widely reported this year that medical errors are now considered to be the third leading cause of death with up to 400,000 patients dying every year as a result. According to a recent study conducted by the National Practitioner Data Bank that examined 25 years of malpractice payments, diagnostic errors are in fact the leading cause of death due to medical errors. In addition, the annual cost of unnecessary medical procedures is estimated at over $100 billion per year. SecondOpinions.com® service is an important tool in preventing medical errors and eliminating unnecessary procedures and surgeries. As a result we help lower health care costs, reduce insurance premiums and protect the health and well-being of patients.

In his session at @ThingsExpo, Mike Weiner, Product Manager of the Omega DevCloud with KORE Telematics Inc., discussed the evolving requirements for developers as IoT matures and conducte...

Providing the needed data for application development and testing is a huge headache for most organizations. The problems are often the same across companies - speed, quality, cost, and control. Provisioning data can take days or weeks, every time a refresh is required. Using dummy data leads to quality problems. Creating physical copies of large data sets and sending them to distributed teams of developers eats up expensive storage and bandwidth resources. And, all of these copies proliferating...

Malicious agents are moving faster than the speed of business. Even more worrisome, most companies are relying on legacy approaches to security that are no longer capable of meeting current threats. In the modern cloud, threat diversity is rapidly expanding, necessitating more sophisticated security protocols than those used in the past or in desktop environments. Yet companies are falling for cloud security myths that were truths at one time but have evolved out of existence.

Digital Transformation is the ultimate goal of cloud computing and related initiatives. The phrase is certainly not a precise one, and as subject to hand-waving and distortion as any high-falutin' terminology in the world of information technology. Yet it is an excellent choice of words to describe what enterprise IT—and by extension, organizations in general—should be working to achieve. Digital Transformation means: handling all the data types being found and created in the organizat...

While on-premise environment virtualization may have peaked at 75%, the Public Cloud has lagged in adop...
