NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - July 08, 2014) - Know an outstanding dementia care professional? Nominate that deserving person for "Dementia Care Professional of the Year."
Dementia Care Professionals of America (DCPA), a division of the Alzheimer's Foundation of America (AFA), holds this competition to honor an individual who has demonstrated professional excellence in care, compassionate performance that exceeds expectations, and dedication to people with Alzheimer's disease and related illnesses.
The seventh annual competition is for dementia care professionals of all types, including home health aides, social workers, recreational therapists, nurses and doctors.
"Each year, we are proud to recognize a top dementia care professional for going above and beyond to provide exceptional care, comfort and assurance to people affected by this devastating disease," said Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr., AFA's chief executive officer.
Professionals do not need to be affiliated with DCPA or AFA to be nominated and can be recommended by their peers, colleagues, employers, clients or clients' families. The deadline for applications is September 1, 2014. For more information or to apply, visit www.careprofessionals.org.
Founded in November 2004, DCPA offers membership, training, qualification and other benefits to dementia care professionals, with the goal of raising the bar on care and setting standards of excellence through unique training and qualification programs. DCPA has welcomed more than 6,800 professionals of all levels into its membership ranks-and continues to grow. The division offers comprehensive training, via DVDs, onsite and virtual, that can lead to qualification as AFA Qualified Dementia Care Providers or AFA Qualified Dementia Care Specialists. For more information or to enroll, visit www.careprofessionals.org.
