ScaleBase Distributed Database Software now Available on AWS Marketplace

ScaleBase today announced the availability of its Distributed Database. Built on MySQL and optimized for the cloud, the distributed database is now available for Amazon Web Services (AWS) in AWS Marketplace.

As organizations strive to become more agile and competitive, they are faced with the challenge of scaling their apps while moving to the cloud. To do so successfully, and avoid the challenges of managing a large and growing database in the cloud, they need a virtualized database environment. ScaleBase was purpose built for cloud migration and scale – seamlessly leveraging multiple MySQL or RDS instances, providing a massive distributed database.

“We welcome ScaleBase to AWS Marketplace with their Distributed Database,” said Terry Hanold, Vice President, Cloud Commerce, Amazon Web Services, Inc. “Customers with growing application and MySQL database requirements can benefit from migrating to a scalable, virtualized deployment on the cloud.”

Countless apps are pushing the scalability limitations of a single MySQL instance, and require a distributed database to accommodate growth and avoid downtime or disruption. ScaleBase enables companies to scale out to an unlimited number of users and transactions by quickly creating a data distribution policy customized for the application. This is done without any code changes to the application or disruption to the MySQL infrastructure.

ScaleBase Version 3.0 is a modern relational database system, built for virtualized environments and optimized for Amazon RDS and MySQL running on Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2). Some of the benefits ScaleBase delivers include:

  • Seamless scale: move instantly beyond the throughput limitations of a single MySQL instance
  • Instant deployment: distributed database is up and running in seconds
  • Keep all the benefits of AWS: ScaleBase uses Amazon RDS and Amazon EC2 as its building blocks, so customers retain all of the value of AWS services, including monitoring and provisioning
  • Leverage replica-lag-aware load balancing and read/write splitting: automatic with Amazon RDS and easily configurable with MySQL on Amazon EC2
  • Increased ROI: ability to tune machine size and database needs to achieve the optimal cost balance

“We are pleased to announce the availability of our product on AWS Marketplace," stated Ram Metser, CEO of ScaleBase." Customers can leverage the cloud benefits of AWS along with a distributed database purpose built for virtualized environments and optimized for the cloud."

Container technology is sending shock waves through the world of cloud computing. Heralded as the 'next big thing,' containers provide software owners a consistent way to package their software and dependencies while infrastructure operators benefit from a standard way to deploy and run them. Containers present new challenges for tracking usage due to their dynamic nature. They can also be deployed to bare metal, virtual machines and various cloud platforms. How do software owners track the usag...
As Marc Andreessen says software is eating the world. Everything is rapidly moving toward being software-defined – from our phones and cars through our washing machines to the datacenter.
