RFaxis Partners with GreenPeak Technologies for Smart Home/Smart Living, Home Automation and “Internet of Things” Initiatives

RFaxis, Inc., a leading fabless semiconductor company focused on developing innovative, next-generation RF solutions for the wireless connectivity and cellular mobility markets, today announced a new partnership with GreenPeak Technologies, the industry’s leading Smart Home low-power radio communication semiconductor company, on a chipset reference design to address the needs of the emerging “Internet of Things” market opportunities for home automation and smart home/smart living initiatives. GreenPeak has selected the RFaxis RFX2411 CMOS ZigBee/ISM RF front-end IC (RFeIC) to pair with the company’s GP711 ZigBee PRO/RF4CE SoC (System-on-Chip).

The combination provides simplified RF design with robust RF link quality that developers require for efficient and effective Internet of Things (IoT) performance in a variety of home automation/smart home applications.

“We are delighted to partner with RFaxis to address the competitive smart home/smart living market with a combined high performance, cost-effective platform solution,” said Vincent Vermeer, Director of Marketing and Business Development at GreenPeak Technologies. “Their fully integrated and cost-effective RF front-ends are ideal for our GP711 ZigBee PRO chips which will help us to accelerate our plans within our strategic market targets.”

“RFaxis is pleased to be working with GreenPeak to integrate our innovative CMOS RF front-end technology into their ZigBee/ISM front end solution,” said Raymond Biagan, VP of Worldwide Sales at RFaxis. “We believe the combination of our integrated technology with GreenPeak’s chips will spur exceptional performance of new IoT products and applications that lower the cost of ownership while providing exceptional value.”

The RFX2411 is a fully integrated, single-chip, single-die RFeIC (RF Front-end Integrated Circuit) which incorporates all the RF functionality needed for IEEE 802.15.4/ZigBee, wireless sensor network, and any other wireless systems in the 2.4GHz ISM band. The RFX2411 architecture integrates the PA, LNA, Transmit and Receive switching circuitry with antenna diversity support, the associated matching network, and the harmonic filter all in a CMOS single-chip device. Ideal for high power applications like home automation, smart house/smart living and smart power environments, the RFaxis RFX2411 combines superior performance, high sensitivity and efficiency, low noise, small form factor, and a low cost.

The GreenPeak Technologies GP711 System-on-Chip is an IEEE 802.15.4 communication controller for integration into a ZigBee RF4CE, ZigBee PRO, and/or ZigBee IP controller or node. With its multi stack operation it supports simultaneous operation of multiple ZigBee profiles inRF4CE and ZigBee PRO/IP running in the host processor. It is fully compliant with the IEEE 802.15.4 standard, providing robust spread spectrum data communication and optimized for low cost while providing superior performance in Smart Home Applications. GreenPeak’s solutions are targeted for smart home / smart living, IoT, and M2M (machine-to-machine) communications market segments, covering a wide range of products such as home automation gateways, home security, home healthcare, set-top boxes, lighting control, and smart energy.

Containers are not new, but renewed commitments to performance, flexibility, and agility have propelled them to the top of the agenda today. By working without the need for virtualization and its overhead, containers are seen as the perfect way to deploy apps and services across multiple clouds. Containers can handle anything from file types to operating systems and services, including microservices. What are microservices? Unlike what the name implies, microservices are not necessarily small,...
WebRTC services have already permeated corporate communications in the form of videoconferencing solutions. However, WebRTC has the potential of going beyond and catalyzing a new class of services providing more than calls with capabilities such as mass-scale real-time media broadcasting, enriched and augmented video, person-to-machine and machine-to-machine communications. In his session at @ThingsExpo, Luis Lopez, CEO of Kurento, will introduce the technologies required for implementing thes...
