ORLANDO, FL -- (Marketwired) -- 07/09/14 -- Personal Mini Storage, Central Florida's premier business and commercial storage operator is pleased to share that its President, Marc Smith has been appointed treasurer of the Self Storage Association (SSA). Appointed by the association's distinguished Board of Directors, Smith will serve as Treasurer for the 2014 term.
An industry expert, Smith has more than 18 years of first-hand experience in owning and operating self-storage facilities. In SSA's 2013 term, he served as secretary where he contributed to the board's legislative efforts to grow state associations nationwide. During this time, SSA established six new state associations, a 40 percent growth from 2012.

SSA's Board of Directors is comprised of elected leaders from various constituencies, and has served as the official trade organization and voice of the U.S. and international self-storage industry for more than 38 years.

In addition to his recent appointment, Smith currently serves on the SSA Foundation Board of Governors for the Self Storage Association Foundation (SSAF). This organization provides industry information and education experiences to members, owner-operators and investors across the country. A licensed real estate broker, building contractor and Orlando philanthropist, Smith previously served as past president and national board member of the Southeast Region of the SSA. Smith specializes in all aspects of the self-storage business, including acquisitions, site selection, start-ups, construction management, design, systems analysis and more. He continues to use his experience and expertise to grow the Personal Mini Storage brand.
