Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation Partners With Entertainment Industry Foundation Canada to Raise Funds for Breast Cancer Research

TORONTO, ON--(Marketwired - July 09, 2014) - Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation (CBCF) today announced its partnership with Entertainment Industry Foundation Canada to fund breast cancer research with the support of long-term partner CIBC. CBCF, EIF and other cancer funders will raise funds for this new research collaborative through the Stand Up To Cancer televised event, airing Friday, September 5, at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) focuses on the creation of "Dream Teams" -- collaborative research teams that forge partnerships between scientists from different disciplines and institutions. This distinct model breaks down barriers to accelerate the development and availability of new cancer treatments.

As the largest non-governmental funder of breast cancer research in Canada, CBCF is committed to funding research that has the greatest impact for the breast cancer community. CBCF's partnership with SU2C will see its investment, coupled with funds raised from the telecast, make donor dollars go further to develop innovative and effective breast cancer therapies.

CBCF has joined EIF Canada's Stand Up To Cancer initiative with funding from CIBC.
