The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) today announced it is appointing Dr. Kamil A. Grajski to its Board of Directors. Dr. Grajski’s term will start September 2014 and run through June 2016.
“Bluetooth® Smart technology radically changed the wireless landscape in just a few short years and required a shift from the SIG as well, demanding a renewed focus on innovation, developer initiatives, and making it dead simple for our members, and prospective members, to bring products to life with Bluetooth technology,” said Mark Powell, executive director of the Bluetooth SIG. “Kamil is a welcome addition to our board and his experience is an ideal fit for where the organization is right now, our current focus, and where we plan to go in the future.”
Dr. Grajski, a UC Berkeley PhD in Biophysics, has 20+ years of experience delivering advanced technologies from laboratory to market. Over the course of his career he has been engaged in the commercialization of speech and handwriting recognition, assisted-GPS and location-based services, and mobile broadcast. Dr. Grajski also serves as the founding president and board chairman for the Alliance for Wireless Power (A4WP), which is focused on building a global wireless charging ecosystem for consumer electronic devices based on magnetic resonance technology.
“Bluetooth technology is a critical enabling technology in the mobile industry and I am delighted to join the Board of Directors,” said Dr. Grajski. “I’ve been involved in several industry associations and have always looked to the Bluetooth SIG as a world-class consortium. I am excited to work with the SIG as it expands on the success of Bluetooth Smart, and continues to build its programs and the technology to enable more applications and business opportunities for members.”
Added Powell, “Our Board of Directors and Associate members are volunteers who dedicate their time, thought leadership and expertise to ensure Bluetooth technology remains the de facto global wireless standard. We appreciate their guidance and are looking forward to working with Kamil moving forward.”

In the next five to ten years, millions, if not billions of things will become smarter. This smartness goes beyond connected things in our homes like the fridge, thermostat and fancy lighting, and into heavily regulated industries including aerospace, pharmaceutical/medical devices and energy. “Smartness” will embed itself within individual products that are part of our daily lives. We will engage with smart products - learning from them, informing them, and communicating with them. Smart produc...
