NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwired) -- 07/10/14 -- Information Builders, a leader in business intelligence (BI) and analytics, information integrity and integration solutions, today announced that it scored highest in its category in Dresner Advisory Services' Business Intelligence Competency Center Market Study. The report, part of the Wisdom of Crowds® family, found Information Builders was best in class for virtually all metrics in its category and gave the company a perfect recommended score.
In its inaugural year, the Dresner study examined the role and effectiveness of the Business Intelligence Competency Center (BICC), the department tasked with implementing, documenting and promoting BI best practices throughout an organization. The report explored which functions are represented within the BICC, budgeting and funding practices, and the success rate and perceived value of BI implementations. Survey respondents ranked vendors on metrics such as product knowledge, experience, business practices and value. Information Builders scored above its peer group across these and other measures, receiving a perfect recommended score.
The BICC Market Study found that there is a broad range of defined and well-understood roles within most competency centers. Respondents also reported that organizations are actively investing in BICCs, with fewer than 10 percent of companies decreasing their 2015 budgets. The study suggests that this continued investment could engender more widespread BI adoption, as respondents in BICC programs are more likely than other roles to view frontline workers and other stakeholders as likely user targets. Information Builders' WebFOCUS platform is well positioned to meet this need, as the solution is designed to deliver self-service BI capabilities to a broad spectrum of user roles.
"We initiated our BICC Market Study to understand how individuals within this group are utilizing and deriving value from their BI implementations," said Howard Dresner, founder and chief research officer of Dresner Advisory Services. "We congratulate Information Builders on their strong showing in this, our inaugural BICC report."
"Information Builders continually strives to delight our customers with our solutions, our industry expertise, and our commitment to customer service, and we're humbled to see our achievements recognized in this latest Dresner report," said Gerald Cohen, president and CEO of Information Builders. "In addition to highlighting how organizations are deriving value from BI solutions, the 2014 BICC Market Study also underscores that there is active investment in the BICC across industries. As these programs become more established, we look forward to helping more organizations transform their operations through best in class business intelligence."
