It’s no secret: Carl’s Jr.® and Hardee’s® menus are well-known for deliciously indulgent, big and juicy 100 percent Black Angus Thickburgers®, Made from Scratch™ Biscuits and Hand-Scooped Ice Cream Shakes™. Yum. It’s also no secret (though not-so-well-known) that the home of the Thickburger offers alternative, lighter fare menu selections that enable guests to deliciously Low Carb It®, Veg It® or Trim It®. Who knew? Well, now we all do.
This week, Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s launched their “Other Side” websites featuring their not-so-secret menu of lower carb, lower calorie or lower fat options. The “Other Side” sites are literally the backwards version of Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s’ current brand site URLs. Just flip the URLs for Carl’s Jr. (www.rjslrac.com) and Hardee’s (www.seedrah.com) to learn more about the menu items on the “Other Side.”
“Our ‘Other Side’ menus highlight a wider variety of Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s’ premium quality, delicious food options,” said Brad Haley, chief marketing officer of CKE Restaurants Holdings, Inc., parent company of Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s. “Many fast food places have secret menus that are typically reserved for indulgent versions of their standard menu. Since Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s already are known for delicious indulgence, our not-so-secret ‘Other Side’ menu calls attention to our menu items that not only fill you up and taste great, but also provide alternatives to guests looking to trim calories, carbs and/or fat.”
The “Other Side” menu at Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s features a variety of Charbroiled Turkey Burgers all under 500 calories; Charbroiled Chicken options; lettuce-wrapped, 100 percent Black Angus beef burgers such as the Low Carb Thickburger that features 38g of protein; and vegetarian options, among others.
“All the menu items on the ‘Other Side’ have been around for a while, such as our award-winning line of Charbroiled Turkey Burgers which were an industry first,” said Haley. “We’re just presenting them in a new and consolidated way to generate more awareness about our healthier options. The selections have always been available for view on our brand menu sites under the ‘Better for You’ menu tab.”
The clever reverse sites were created by Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s advertising agency 72andSunny.

Complete Internet of Things (IoT) embedded device security is not just about the device but involves the entire product’s identity, data and control integrity, and services traversing the cloud. A device can no longer be looked at as an island; it is a part of a system. In fact, given the cross-domain interactions enabled by IoT it could be a part of many systems. Also, depending on where the device is deployed, for example, in the office building versus a factory floor or oil field, security ha...
