Earlier today, Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel made a special guest appearance at Facebook Fit Chicago, the third stop on a five-city tour of boot camp-style events designed to help SMBs grow their businesses. Mayor Emanuel spoke to the sold-out crowd of local businesses.
“Facebook Fit is about helping small businesses grow and learn from other SMB owners,” said Dan Levy, Facebook’s director of small business. “Having Mayor Emanuel, a huge advocate for Chicago small businesses, speak to the audience was an inspiring addition to the day.”
More than 600 local small businesses attended Facebook Fit throughout the day. Also in attendance were the leaders of the National Black Chamber of Commerce, whose 22nd Annual Convention kicks off in Chicago tonight, as well as other local chamber of commerce organizations.
Small Businesses at Facebook Fit Chicago enjoyed a main-stage session emceed by digital lifestyle expert Mario Armstrong that featured a keynote from Facebook’s Dan Levy, followed by a panel of local small business owners moderated by best-selling author Rhonda Abrams. Later, attendees had the opportunity to attend breakout sessions led by Facebook and Facebook Fit partners Intuit QuickBooks, LegalZoom and Square.
