Headwaters MB Advised Advanced Lighting Technologies on its sale of Deposition Sciences to Lockheed Martin

Headwaters announced today that it advised Advanced Lighting Technologies (ADLT), a Solon, OH-based manufacturer of energy-efficient lighting materials and finished products, on the sale of its Santa Rosa, CA-based subsidiary Deposition Sciences (DSI) to Lockheed Martin, the Bethesda, MD-based global security and aerospace Fortune 100 company.

“DSI’s proprietary thin film coating processes serve as excellent engineering solutions to defense and commercial challenges,” said Tess Oxenstierna, Managing Director in the Headwaters’ Aerospace, Defense and Government (ADG) group.

Peter Nam, Managing Director in Headwaters’ Industrial Technology group, added, “For over twenty years, Deposition Sciences has provided coating solutions for a variety of applications, ranging from military and aerospace to medical and scientific.” Managing Director Grant Garbers continued, “Our ADG and Industrial Technology Practices teamed to deliver results for another client, this time finding a marquee strategic buyer.”

Deposition Sciences produces durable, heat-resistant and reliable optical thin film coatings, spanning the range from the ultraviolet wavelength through to far infrared (FIR) or the long-wave infrared (LWIR) spectral wavelengths. The company has 85 employees overall.

Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
