SCOTTSDALE, AZ -- (Marketwired) -- 07/15/14 -- The SENS Research Foundation extended the early bird registration discount to the annual Rejuvenation Biotechnology Conference in Santa Clara until July 14 and published the full agenda on their website last week. This year's conference will take place from August 21 to 23 at the Santa Clara Hyatt Regency Hotel and revolve around the main topic "Emerging Regenerative Medicine Solutions for the Diseases of Aging". In his introductory words Aubrey de Grey, the Co-Founder and Chief Science Officer of the SENS Research Foundation, emphasizes once again the overall goal of the conference and the foundation as a whole -- to create a rejuvenation biotechnology industry which aims at accelerating the development of drugs through the broad-based collaboration of damage-repair expertise.
The event will provide a platform for experts and key players to attend panels on topics such as Advancing Regenerative Therapies in Cancer and Parkinson's Disease, Molecular and Cellular Damage as the Cause of the Diseases of Aging or Building a Rejuvenation Biotechnology Industry and discuss combinatorial, preventative strategies, which represent the main goals of the SENS Foundation. SENS, short for "Strategies for Engineered Negligible Senescence," is a non-profit organization that is built on the support of private individuals, researchers and scientists, as well as prominent philanthropist. One of the biggest contributors in the recent past has been Jason Hope, a renowned entrepreneur from Arizona, who has made several considerable donations and has been actively supporting the foundation's research efforts.
In 2010, Jason Hope donated $500,000 to the SENS foundation, a gift that enabled the organization to build and equip the Cambridge SENS laboratory as well as to implement a brand-new research program aiming to break down advanced glycation end products in human tissue. Hope explains why he is so passionate about supporting SENS and the foundation's goals: "Foundations like SENS are taking a different approach to anti-aging. They are focused on finding cures for disease that break down the body and thus cause us to age faster than we should. Disease like Alzheimer's and heart and lung disease affect all functions of the body. Traditional medicine looks at treating these diseases after they happen. We want to focus on stopping these diseases from ever happening."
Jason Hope is a hugely successful entrepreneur, futurist, investor and philanthropist. Born and raised in Tempe, Arizona, he studied Finance at Arizona State University and went on to obtain an MBA from W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. After college, Hope achieved considerable business success and built an international reputation within a short time. Today, he is known as the expert in all types of business questions and is a sought-after advisor. Faithful to his home state of Arizona, Hope stayed close to Phoenix and now lives in Scottsdale, Arizona, from where he overviews his many projects and businesses. A considerable part of Hope's spare time goes into philanthropic causes. Spurred by his interest for innovative technologies, Hope supports scientific research that thrives through innovation and is not afraid to challenge the modern school of thought.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is growing rapidly by extending current technologies, products and networks. By 2020, Cisco estimates there will be 50 billion connected devices. Gartner has forecast revenues of over $300 billion, just to IoT suppliers. Now is the time to figure out how you’ll make money – not just create innovative products. With hundreds of new products and companies jumping into the IoT fray every month, there’s no shortage of innovation. Despite this, McKinsey/VisionMobile data...

Cloud computing is unquestionably one of the driving forces of DevOps, as the automation of operations transforms enterprise software development. DevOps, however, is more than a technology trend, as it represents a move toward silo-busting, self-organizing horizontal teams that drive business velocity. At the same time, enterprise Digital Transformation represents an upheaval across the enterprise, as customer preferences and behavior drive enterprise technology decisions. This transformation ...

Just over a week ago I received a long and loud sustained applause for a presentation I delivered at this year’s Cloud Expo in Santa Clara. I was extremely pleased with the turnout and had some very good conversations with many of the attendees. Over the next few days I had many more meaningful conversations and was not only happy with the results but also learned a few new things. Here is everything I learned in those three days distilled into three short points.

In demand-intensive mobile and web applications, an emerging pattern is to host the Systems of Engagement in the cloud (for maximum responsiveness) but keep the Systems of Record with the other important business systems in the company datacenter, often on a tightly secured mainframe. But what about the space in between? In this IBM Redpaper publication, we show that the IBM Bluemix cloud platform offers technologies that make it easy for cloud-based SoEs to securely connect to on-premises IBM...

DevOps is about increasing efficiency, but nothing is more inefficient than building the same application twice. However, this is a routine occurrence with enterprise applications that need both a rich desktop web interface and strong mobile support. With recent technological advances from Isomorphic Software and others, rich desktop and tuned mobile experiences can now be created with a single codebase – without compromising functionality, performance or usability. In his session at DevOps Su...
