Plastic Surgeon in Atlanta Advises on When to Receive Surgical or Nonsurgical Facial Rejuvenation

Dr. Thomas Lintner Explains the Benefits of Both Surgical and Non-Surgical Facial Rejuvenation While Identifying Who Is a Good Candidate for Each Type of Treatment

ATLANTA, GA -- (Marketwired) -- 07/15/14 -- A variety of surgical and non-surgical methods designed to reduce the signs of facial aging are available to patients these days. Dr. Thomas Lintner, a plastic surgeon in Atlanta, says when meeting with patients interested in facial rejuvenation, it is important for the patient to comprehensively explain their aesthetic goals. Based on the patient's response, he says he is able to recommend a procedure that will best meet their needs.

In the first installment of a three-part blog series on facial rejuvenation surgery, Dr. Lintner explains that he does not suggest surgical procedures to treat anything the patient has not identified as an area of concern. The post -- titled, "Which Facial Rejuvenation Procedure is Right for Me?" -- does goes on to note that he may occasionally recommend a complementary procedure if he feels it can provide the patient with improved results.

In a follow-up post titled, "Surgical vs. Non Surgical Facial Rejuvenation: Which is Better?," Dr. Lintner explains that some patients may be able to reduce the signs of facial aging without a facelift or other surgical procedure, depending on how well they have taken care of their skin over the years. Although age is typically a factor in deciding if cosmetic injectables or surgery is the better option for facial rejuvenation, he says some older patients with good skin might not necessarily need surgery. Dr. Lintner also mentions that patients who may not be candidates for a facelift due to a medical condition can often still achieve facial rejuvenation with cosmetic injectables as a safer alternative.

Dr. Lintner wrapped up his blog series with a post titled, "What is a Mini Facelift?" In the article, he details another option for facial rejuvenation: a mid-facelift, also known as a mini facelift. He says this option can be beneficial for patients who may only have concerns about signs of aging in the midface, though patients who are unhappy with loose skin along the jawline may find a traditional facelift to be more advantageous.

Ultimately, according to Dr. Lintner, a patient's age, life experience, and personal preferences are what helps to decide what facial rejuvenation technique is most appropriate. He says a patient consultation allows him to assess these factors and create a customized treatment plan, and he urges anyone interested in facial rejuvenation to schedule a consultation with an experienced board-certified plastic surgeon.
