The nominations deadline for the March of Dimes Heroines of Washington has been extended to Friday, August 1, 2014. Formerly known as Heroines of Technology, the awards program will honor women in the D.C. region for their dedication to community service. New this year and as part of the event’s rebrand, nominations are open to women in more industries and not solely those working in technology.
Awards will be presented for the following categories:
- Healthcare Heroine Award sponsored by General Dynamics Information Technology
- Professional Services Heroine Award sponsored by Middleburg Wealth Management
- Public Sector Heroine Award sponsored by Sapient
- Real Estate Heroine Award sponsored by Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice, LLP
- Technology Heroine Award sponsored by MorganFranklin Consulting
- Rising Heroine Award
- Lifetime Heroine Award
To nominate a heroine and learn more about the event and past winners, visit marchofdimes.org/heroines. Nominees must live in Maryland, Northern Virginia, or Washington, D.C. Self-nominations will be accepted.
The black-tie awards gala will be held Tuesday, November 18, 2014, at the Ritz-Carlton Tysons Corner. Guests will include directors, CEOs and other high-level individuals from local corporations and government agencies. Proceeds will support March of Dimes programs of research, community services, education, and advocacy. Since 2001 the March of Dimes has honored 80 “heroines” and raised more than $1.7 million to support the March of Dimes mission.
