Agilysys and Compass Group North America Expand Partnership with Additional Deployment of Agilysys Elevate™ POS Solution

Agilysys, Inc. (Nasdaq: AGYS), a leading provider of innovative information technology and hospitality software, and Compass Group North America, a leader in foodservice management and support services, today announced an expansion of their technology partnership as Compass Group rolls out the Agilysys Elevate™ POS solution to additional customer sites nationwide.

Elevate is a cloud-based, single-pass point-of-sale system that enables customers to take advantage of fast-moving trends in application delivery. The system uses open architecture for maximum flexibility and scalability and employs Verishield Total Protect, an advanced end-to-end encryption technology from VeriFone that securely protects cardholder data and helps reduce PCI scope for merchants.

Compass Group's initial phase rollout, which began in January, focused on corporate dining; the solution is now being expanded to schools, healthcare facilities and other foodservice locations the company serves. Elevate is currently installed in more than two dozen locations, with new sites being added every month.

Features of the Elevate solution include remote deployment capabilities, flexible configuration, intuitive order entry and unified enterprise reporting. The system supports a variety of peripheral devices, including barcode scanners, receipt printers, scales and pole displays. Elevate is a cost-effective point-of-sale option, reducing the level of professional services required to implement, configure and manage the system. A monthly subscription fee includes support and maintenance, and upgrades are delivered automatically as new versions are released.

"The Elevate solution has been highly successful for us," said Mike Barner, senior vice president of field systems at Compass Group North America. "The solution brings our clients tremendous value in terms of cost-effectiveness, flexibility and the ability to integrate with other systems, such as our loss prevention software. A cloud-based solution also offers our customers a much less costly option than a premise-based system; yet, it provides the same functionality as a full-blown point-of-sale solution."

"Compass Group is a leader when it comes to using technology, and we are pleased that the company is expanding its use of the Elevate solution," said Tony Ross, vice president of sales for Agilysys. “Elevate is designed to focus on simplicity without sacrificing functionality. Often, simple service outlets looking for a POS solution come to the conclusion that their budget can't accommodate traditional on-premise technology. With Elevate, these customers can significantly reduce their cost of ownership while enjoying the benefits of a comprehensive point-of-sale solution."

Everyone talks about continuous integration and continuous delivery but those are just two ends of the pipeline. WebRTC has had a real tough three or four years, and so have those working with it. Only a few short years ago, the development world were excited about WebRTC and proclaiming how awesome it was. You might have played with the technology a couple of years ago, only to find the extra infrastructure requirements were painful to implement and poorly documented. This probably left a bitter taste in your mouth, especially when things went wrong.

Too often with compelling new technologies market participants become overly enamored with that attractiveness of the technology and neglect underlying business drivers. This tendency, what some call the “newest shiny object syndrome,” is understandable given that virtually all of us are heavily engaged in technology. But it is also mistaken. Without concrete business cases driving its deployment, IoT, like many other technologies before it, will fade into obscurity.
