Solekai Delivers Critical MPEG-DASH Software for Path 1

Solekai Systems Corporation (Solekai) announced today the successful development and delivery of PiXiE for Path 1. PiXiE is an IP network encoder and decoder with MPEG-DASH technology designed to simplify high quality SD/HD-SDI video transport. Solekai provided expert project management services, system design, software development, and test plan documentation. Importantly, Solekai 10X engineers delivered critical control plane and data plane software that PiXiE uses for MPEG DASH compliance.

The PiXiE encoder and decoder are designed to deliver high quality compressed MPEG-4 AVC video over any IP network, which includes the internet and content delivery networks (CDNs). The PiXiE codec simplifies and minimizes the risk in real-time Internet program transmission and easily integrates with a variety of applications via a simple web interface and web API. Solekai and Path 1, both members of the DASH Industry Forum, a consortium established to promote the MPEG-DASH standard, have developed PiXiE to incorporate MPEG-DASH adaptive bit rate technology for easy configuration and smart adaptation. The encoder creates multiple simultaneous and synchronized representations of video programs at variable quality levels. The decoder constantly adapts to network conditions by selecting the highest possible quality. Of note, PiXiE safely transports up to 16 channels of audio and all private ancillary data.
