Pivothead, a leader in wearable imaging technology, will be introducing their next-generation Pivothead SMART (Simple Modular Application-Ready Technology™) line of feature-rich eyewear to leaders in the wearables industry at the Wearable Tech Expo, July 23 and 24 in New York City.
Pivothead SMART provides the full 1080p high-definition (HD) video and 8 megapixel photo capture capability of Pivothead’s award-winning first-generation eyewear, plus Smart Mods™ - a revolutionary new design approach to wearable technology. The new modular SMART lineup introduces a multitude of new features, including full HD wireless live streaming, and is geared towards effortless, real-time, cloud-based sharing activities across numerous applications.
Pivothead previously released its software developers kit (SDK) to encourage the developer community to create diverse applications in advance of Pivothead SMART’s consumer launch in fall 2014. The SDK will provide access for developers to create a wide range of live streaming applications, and the ability to capitalize on the interactivity between Pivothead SMART and other wirelessly connected devices such as smartphones and smartwatches. Additionally, advanced analytic-driven Android applications can be run directly on the glasses with the use of the Air Mod.
“Building a product that provides superior imaging quality was the paramount objective in our first generation and it remains so with our second-generation SMART glasses,” said Pivothead founder and president, Christopher Cox. “When you combine the high powered imaging performance of Pivothead SMART with features like true point-of-view HD Live Broadcasting and a robust cloud-based delivery mechanism, you have a product that can transform not only how we capture and share our lives, but also how we do our jobs. The professional applications are endless and we’re excited to engage with the developer community to build on this disruptive platform.”
Pivothead SMART features include:
- Share Your View - LIVE | live stream full HD video to web browser or mobile apps
- Capture Unique POV Video & Images | full HD video : 8 mp stills : auto-focus
- Add SMARTMods™ | accessories that add power, connectivity, and apps
- Choose Your Style | two on-trend styles : prescription friendly
- Store Memories | removable micro SD with mods
- Recharge On-The-Go | interchangeable Fuel Mod : continuously replaceable
- Control Your Glasses Wirelessly | from your smartwatch, smartphone, & more
- Get Notifications | configure audio and LED alerts from Pivothead and third-party apps
- Quick Pairing | instantly pair via Bluetooth with integrated NFC
- Run SMART Apps| develop and run Android-based apps on the Air Mod
- Open For Developers | published SDK for developers
- Motion Controls |configurable five-position touch control
According to Cox, Pivothead’s decision to use audio and an LED light-rail to convey heads-up information to the wearer, as opposed to using a heads-up display (HUD), is a reflection on Pivothead’s core values. “We call Pivothead the Ultimate Life Camera. Our camera glasses are designed to encourage social interaction, active sharing and the effortless documentation of your life in ways previously unimagined, in real time and in full HD. HUD’s in their current technological iteration are anti-social in more ways than one and therefore counter to our objectives. We designed a simple method using sensory experience to provide heads up information.”
Cox will deliver a keynote address at the Wearable Tech Expo on July 24 at 9:30 a.m. as well as a keynote at the Fitness & Sports Wearable Tech Conference on July 22 at 1 p.m..
Collocated with the Wearable Tech Expo, the Fitness & Sports Wearable Tech Conference explores the impact of wearable technology on the sports and fitness industry as it relates to consumers, coaches and athletes.
