Frequently asked questions about Employment Networks include:

What is an Employment Network?
An EN in an organizational entity (state or local, public or private) that enters into a contract with Social Security with the intention of coordinating and delivering employment services, VR services, and/or other support services under the Ticket program. These services are provided by the EN to Social Security beneficiaries who have assigned their Ticket to the EN which has accepted the Ticket. To find out more about who can assist beneficiaries to better understand the Ticket program and where they may go for employment support services, visit: http://www.ssa.gov/work/overview.html.

What is the Ticket to Work Program?
The Ticket to Work program provides Social Security disability beneficiaries the choices, opportunities and support needed to become and stay employed, increase their earnings, and eventually leave and remain off benefits by being fully self-supportive. Under this program, the Social Security issues ‘tickets’ to eligible beneficiaries who, in turn, may choose to assign those tickets to an Employment Network (EN) of their choice to obtain employment services, vocational rehabilitation services, or other support services necessary to achieve a vocational (work) goal. The EN, if they accept the ticket, will coordinate and provide appropriate services to help the beneficiary find and maintain employment. To learn more about the Ticket program, visit: https://yourtickettowork.com/web/ttw/en-about-ticket-to-work.

Who can receive services at an EN?
Anyone between the ages of 18 and 64 who receives Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and/or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) is eligible to receive services at an EN.

What services do ENs provide?
All ENs provide career counseling, job placement, and ongoing support services. Some provide additional services; visitors to www.ServiceLocator.org/ENs can view a list of services offered by each provider in their search results.

How does CareerOneStop’s Employment Network search work?
Get started at www.ServiceLocator.org/ENs by entering a ZIP code or city and state to create a list of ENs in that area. Some ENs provide services in local communities, across a state, or in multiple states. Some also help people determine which services would best meet their needs online or by phone. Because they offer differing services, individuals should contact several ENs to determine the best fit. Find email and phone contact information as well as a list of services offered by each EN at www.ServiceLocator.org/ENs.

Fifty billion connected devices and still no winning protocols standards. HTTP, WebSockets, MQTT, and CoAP seem to be leading in the IoT protocol race at the moment but many more protocols are getting introduced on a regular basis. Each protocol has its pros and cons depending on the nature of the communications. Does there really need to be only one protocol to rule them all? Of course not. In his session at @ThingsExpo, Chris Matthieu, co-founder and CTO of Octoblu, walk you through how Oct...
Web Real-Time Communication APIs have quickly revolutionized what browsers are capable of. In addition to video and audio streams, we can now bi-directionally send arbitrary data over WebRTC's PeerConnection Data Channels. With the advent of Progressive Web Apps and new hardware APIs such as WebBluetooh and WebUSB, we can finally enable users to stitch together the Internet of Things directly from their browsers while communicating privately and securely in a decentralized way.
"My role is working with customers, helping them go through this digital transformation. More and more companies are looking to microservices as an architectural pattern for breaking apart applications into more manageable pieces so that agile teams can deliver new features quicker and more effectively. What this pattern has done more than anything to date is spark organizational transformations, setting the foundation for future application development. In practice, however, there are a number of considerations to make that go beyond simply “build, ship, and run,” which changes ho...

Developing software for the Internet of Things (IoT) comes with its own set of challenges. Security, privacy, and unified standards are a few key issues. In addition, each IoT product is comprised of (at least) three separate application components: the software embedded in the device, the back-end service, and the mobile application for the end user’s controls. Each component is developed by a different team, using different technologies and practices, and deployed to a different stack/target –...
