Fast Fashion Retailer rue21 Retools Point of Sale With Epicor Retail Store to Support Seamless Customer Experience

With a Focus on Meeting Today's Top Customer Needs, rue 21 Will Streamline Checkout, Offer Customers More Personalized Promotions and Ease of Cross-Channel Returns Management

AUSTIN, TX--(Marketwired - July 22, 2014) - Customers of leading specialty apparel retailer rue21 will soon be able to partake in a new seamless and inspired customer experience thanks to the brand's latest collaboration with Epicor Software Corporation, a global leader in business software solutions for manufacturing, distribution, retail and services organizations.

One of the fastest-growing fashion retail brands in the country, rue21 offers the latest trends at a value through nearly 1,050 stores across 47 states. To support the company's efforts to continue to better understand its customers' needs and deliver a seamless omni-channel experience across both in-store and online channels, the company is upgrading to the latest version of Epicor Retail Store. The Epicor flagship Point of Sale solution is designed to reduce checkout time and improve the customer experience to drive greater sales and loyalty.

Leveraging Epicor Retail Store, the brand will unify the customer experience across eCommerce and brick and mortar locations for simplified, streamlined operations, including returns management. Following implementation of the upgraded version, customers will be able to easily return and exchange items regardless of the channel of purchase as store associates will have a single view of cross-channel transactions.

"Shoppers will soon experience a new level of service from rue21," said Dirk Armstrong, senior vice president of Store Operations, rue21. "Epicor Retail Store gives us the foundation to create a seamless customer experience across our stores and our eCommerce business. We will have the ability to better serve customers through an understanding of their past purchases, enabling us to anticipate future wants and needs."

Epicor Retail Store will give rue21 the flexibility to offer customers even more value through a wide variety of promotional offers; and store associates will experience simplified at-the-register promotional processing, resulting in faster checkouts and improved productivity.

"Promotion and productivity gains are big wins for us here," said Mike Holland, senior vice president and chief information officer, rue21. "From an IT perspective, we needed a POS solution and operating system that could scale to meet the needs of new markets and our plans to grow to 1,700 stores, as well as manage multiple configurations and meet new and emerging compliance mandates. As part of our POS overhaul, we'll be leveraging Windows Embedded POSReady 7, which will simplify both management and deployment."

"Point of sale is one of the most mission-critical retail solutions and is at the heart of enhancing the customer's shopping experience, increasing productivity and driving sales," said Noel Goggin, EVP, general manager, Epicor Retail. "For today's multichannel retailers, having a POS solution that can interact seamlessly with other mission critical systems, stores, and sales channels is key to putting the right information in the hands of store associates and in creating an inspiring customer experience that contributes to greater loyalty."
