LexisNexis Canada Announces Acquisition of Canadian Legal Publishing Operation of Wolters Kluwer

Addition will enable LexisNexis Canada to expand the breadth and coverage of its national legal content collection on the Quicklaw information service with a focus on corporate, securities, real estate, French-language content and other areas of practice

TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 07/22/14 -- LexisNexis® Canada (www.lexisnexis.ca), a leading provider of information and technology solutions, announced today that LexisNexis has agreed to acquire the Canadian legal publishing assets from Wolters Kluwer. The acquisition will reinforce LexisNexis Canada's comprehensive portfolio to provide access to key analytical content for legal professionals working in corporate, commercial and securities law; employment and labour law; real estate; family law; and wills, trusts and estates, as well as to key French-language content from Quebec.

Wolters Kluwer Limited, formerly known in Canada as CCH Canadian Limited, is a leading Canadian provider of software, content and services to professionals in the fields of tax and accounting, financial planning, legal and business. Its legal publishing operation has approximately 50 employees.

New or enhanced premium LexisNexis collections will combine and integrate existing LexisNexis content-which includes the QuickCITE® Case Citator and the Halsbury's® Laws of Canada and JurisClasseur Quebec legal encyclopedias-with flagship analytical materials and annotated legislation in key areas of legal practice including corporate law; commercial law; securities law; employment and labour law; real estate law; family law; and wills, trusts and estates law, as well as with civil law monographs, manuals and other titles in French in practice areas that include criminal law, family law and administrative law for Quebec legal professionals.
