DALLAS, TX--(Marketwired - July 23, 2014) - Provident Metals has announced today that it will soon accept cryptocurrencies as a form of payment. Beginning August 25th, the online precious metals dealer will accept Bitcoin, Dogecoin and Litecoin for payment on all gold and silver bullion and other products featured at ProvidentMetals.com.
Bitcoin, Dogecoin and Litecoin are currently used as mediums of exchange through what are known as peer-to-peer transactions. Digital wallets track the balance of the currency and allow users to access and spend their holdings. These and other cryptocurrencies are open-source, decentralized and their scarcity and security is based on cryptography.
"The value of cryptocurrencies and precious metals are market driven, and they both appeal to forward-thinking investors," said Provident Metals CEO Joe Merrick of the decision. "This integration was logical because many of our customers are proponents of alternative currency, and it's our job to respond to their needs."
In fact, customer requests played a large part in the decision to accept cryptocurrencies, particularly after Provident began sponsoring NASCAR driver Josh Wise, who is also sponsored by Dogecoin.
According to Provident Metals COO Jake Haugen, when the Dogecoin community began requesting the option to purchase precious metals with their preferred digital currency, the company realized that, "... it was time for us to recognize the effect cryptocurrencies are having on the marketplace."
"Our goal is to provide our customers with new and progressive payment options that work to their advantage." Haugen continued, explaining that by adding Bitcoin, Dogecoin and Litecoin to their accepted settlement options, Provident Metals joins a small but rapidly growing list of merchants that are adapting to fit the needs of modern consumers.

What are the new priorities for the connected business? First: businesses need to think differently about the types of connections they will need to make – these span well beyond the traditional app to app into more modern forms of integration including SaaS integrations, mobile integrations, APIs, device integration and Big Data integration. It’s important these are unified together vs. doing them all piecemeal. Second, these types of connections need to be simple to design, adapt and configure...

Creating replica copies to tolerate a certain number of failures is easy, but very expensive at cloud-scale.
