Silicene Labs Announces the Launch of Patent-Pending, 2D Materials Composite Index(TM)

The Initial 2D Materials Composite Index(TM) for Q2 2014 Is: 857.3; Founders Include World-Renowned Physicist and Seasoned Business and IP Professionals

WESTPORT, CT -- (Marketwired) -- 07/23/14 -- Silicene Labs, LLC, a pioneer in business and industry research on nanomaterials, has created a revolutionary metric to track the development of two-dimensional ("2D") materials -- the Silicene Labs 2D Materials Composite Index™. Silcene Labs includes Dr. Lok C. Lew Yan Voon, a world-renowned solid-state physicist who has been called the "Father of Silicene."

Scientists and business leaders around the world acknowledge the approaching 2D materials revolution, which is certain to bring enormous change to commerce and society in future years. Entire industries will be disrupted by nanomaterials such as Graphene, while other industries will be major beneficiaries of them.

Despite the global interest in keeping up with advances in these extraordinary materials, no efforts have been made to measure their whiteboard-to-commercialization progress -- until now.

Enter Silicene Labs, which has devised a proprietary, patent-pending methodology and algorithm that produces a single metric to monitor 2D materials.

Forty-percent (40%) of the inputs used to calculate the 2D Materials Composite Index consist of objective data, and sixty-percent (60%) involve subjective perspectives from a panel of leading experts in the field. Those experts, who make up the Silicene Labs Scientific Advisory Committee, include 18 top materials scientists and business executives. The Company will recalculate and publish the 2D Materials Composite Index on a quarterly basis going forward.

A detailed breakdown and analysis of the 2D Materials Composite Index™ can be found in the Silicene Labs 2D Materials Briefing Book™, which will be offered for sale starting tomorrow, July 24, 2014, on the company's website, www.Silicene.com. The Briefing Book also contains individual indices for, and detailed analyses of, the leading two-dimensional materials: Graphene; Silicene; MoS2; Phosphorene; and Germanene.

Too often with compelling new technologies market participants become overly enamored with that attractiveness of the technology and neglect underlying business drivers. This tendency, what some call the “newest shiny object syndrome,” is understandable given that virtually all of us are heavily engaged in technology. But it is also mistaken. Without concrete business cases driving its deployment, IoT, like many other technologies before it, will fade into obscurity.
Any Ops team trying to support a company in today’s cloud-connected world knows that a new way of thinking is required – one just as dramatic than the shift from Ops to DevOps. The diversity of modern operations requires teams to focus their impact on breadth vs. depth. In his session at DevOps Summit, Adam Serediuk, Director of Operations at xMatters, Inc., will discuss the strategic requirements of evolving from Ops to DevOps, and why modern Operations has begun leveraging the “NoOps” approa...
