Chinese Province of JiLin Opens North American Trade & Business Development Center

Rapidly Growing Chinese Industrial & Manufacturing Region Seeks to Expand Business Ties Between American and JiLin-Based Companies, Chooses Chicago to Establish Trade Office

CHICAGO, IL -- (Marketwired) -- 07/23/14 -- The JiLin Province Department of Commerce today announced it will open a North American exhibition center to promote two-way trade and investment with the northeastern Chinese province. After an extensive search, the JiLin Business Center selected downtown Chicago for its North American headquarters, which is set to open on August 1, 2014.

The Center will serve as an information resource and offer assistance to American businesses looking to buy, sell and invest with companies located in JiLin. An interactive map of JiLin businesses, product samples and information about some of JiLin's leading businesses will be on display from agricultural, transportation, electronics materials and other industries. A full list of industries showcased at the JiLin Business Center can be found on its website: http://jilintrade.com/industries.

More than 80 JiLin-based companies have already joined the Center before opening its doors.

"We are excited about helping American businesses explore new partnerships by looking to JiLin," said Jeff Mahaffey, Executive Director of the JiLin Business Center and Chief Operating Officer of Global BioChem Technology Americas. "JiLin is an established manufacturing center in China and home to some of northeast Asia's leading companies in several categories. We think there is untapped potential offered to American and JiLin businesses looking for new markets."

Emboldened by the partnerships formed between JiLin-based corn processor Global BioChem Technology Group and American consumer brands and animal nutrition, the JiLin Department of Commerce saw the opportunity to create additional global business opportunities and asked Global BioChem to help launch the Center.

"Global BioChem is proud to partner with the JiLin Department of Commerce to help further trade and investment between the United States and JiLin companies," said Mrs. Sara Xu Executive Director of the Board and Chief Financial Officer of Global BioChem Group, the largest exporter from Jilin to the United States.

"We've experienced the benefits first-hand of expanding sales and manufacturing partnerships with American companies. We look forward to serving as an advocate to other businesses and an advisor to the Center," she continued.

JiLin is often compared to the American Midwest, and therefore the JiLin Business Center determined Chicago would be the optimal place to locate its trade office.

"Chicago is the best choice to locate the JiLin Business Center due to the shared economic strengths between JiLin and the Midwest region's agriculture, automotive and pharmaceutical industries," continued Mahaffey. "Plus, direct international flights from China to Chicago make it much easier for people to move back and forth."
