GuestLogix Recognized for Innovation With Issuance of Second U.S. Patent

Company Granted United States Patent for Systems and Methods for Integration of Travel and Related Services and Operations

TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 07/24/14 -- GuestLogix Inc. (TSX:GXI), the leading global provider of onboard retail and payment technology solutions to airlines, rail operators and the passenger travel industry, today announced that it has been issued a second U.S. patent, further protecting the Company's onboard retail and payment technology, specifically as it relates to the use of passengers' personal devices onboard. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office issued U.S. Patent No. 8,744,920 to GuestLogix and listing Ramez Hanna, GuestLogix SVP Product Development as principal inventor, in recognition of the Company's unique technology that integrates mobile devices into an onboard retail environment.

On December 12, 2012, GuestLogix was issued its first U.S. patent, protecting the Company's technology platform as it relates to the sale of products and services via a mobile POS device that are linked to specific travel vehicles, such as an aircraft. This new patent, entitled "Systems and Methods for Integration of Travel and Related Services and Operations" goes one step further to protect the Company's technology for use in monetizing personal devices used by passengers within travel vehicles. The patent also protects the process, methodologies and technologies that provide targeted or personalized offerings being pushed to passengers within these mobile retail environments.

An excerpt from the patent abstract states that "one aspect of the invention is directed to integrating mobile devices, such as smartphones, tablets, etc., into a mobile retail environment commercial system. A mobile device includes a mobile store module that provides an interactive user experience that allows a traveler to browse goods or services that are available in the mobile retail environment." GuestLogix' next generation mobile solutions were designed to improve operators' abilities to generate ancillary revenues - a highly relied upon revenue stream - by enabling self-service retailing via passengers' personal devices, while at the same time enhancing the overall customer experience.
