HOLLYWOOD, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 07/24/14 -- One year ago, Hollywood PR guru Lee Solters' longtime partner, Jerry Digney, a native of Needham, MA, and a 1968 high school graduate, changed the name of their storied PR firm, one of the industry's last remaining independent pr firms, to Digney Mario & Company Public Relations (www.digneymariopr.com), located at Hollywood & Vine, in the historic Taft Building.
Solters, a 60-year veteran and pioneer of entertainment PR, who shepherded the careers of Barbra Streisand, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Quincy Jones, Michael Jackson, John Denver, Dolly Parton, Barry Manilow, Led Zeppelin, and Neil Diamond and the Grammy® Awards TV Specials, among 100s of other musical icons, and helped launch fellow show biz icons, PEOPLE and Entertainment Tonight, passed away in 2009.
Joining Digney and adding muscle to its hi-tech talent ranks a year ago was Internet-New Media guru Ray Mario.
"We each bring decades of publicity experience to the table," says Digney ([email protected]), personal publicist himself to a host of icons, from Ray Charles to B.B. King, the B.B. King Museum, Billy Preston, Kool & The Gang, Bob Newhart, Universal Studios Hollywood and Madame Tussauds Wax Museums. "We've collaborated in the past so this is a natural transition."
Since its formation, Digney and predecessor companies have helped clients, such as Concord Records, win 120-plus Grammy® Awards and for STARBUCKS' inaugural run in the music business and its release of Ray Charles' "Genius Loves Company," Digney scored eight Grammy® Awards for the coffee giant-sponsored duets album.
He has also racked up numerous PR firsts: from getting the late Pope John Paul II named an honorary Harlem Globetrotter to publicizing reality TV's first TV wedding, the multi-million dollar coupling of "Trista and Ryan" on ABC TV.
After a year, Digney Mario & Co. hosts one of the top 5 PR agency Twitter sites in L.A., an active social media practice, a new Spanish-language PR practice and a digital marketing company staffed by seasoned talent.
It's also launched the world's biggest IMAX® in Hollywood, publicized an array of handprint ceremonies, featuring Ben Stiller, Tom Cruise, Sandra Bullock, Robert De Niro, Jackie Chan, Jerry Lewis & Melissa McCarthy, helped TV icon Bob Newhart win his first EMMY® Award, rebranded the fabled Grauman's Chinese to the TCL Chinese Theatre, and opened mega hits in IMAX® like "Gravity," not to mention: Opening of Universal's DESPICABLE ME ride, Ripley's "Natl. Sword Swallowers Day," NASCAR & our 16 year-old star Gray Gaulding, the Warner Bros. VIP Tour 75th Anniv. BATMAN exhibit, MGM's 90th Anniv. with Sly Stallone @ TCL Chinese, the 37th Anniv. Edition of the world-famous CAROUSEL OF HOPE, Mark Burnett's THE BIBLE, McKenzie Westmore -- SyFy's top-rated FACE OFF, Kool & The Gang's KID ROCK Tour, Nick Cannon, The Voice's Judith Hill, Curtis Mayfield Chicago musical, boxing legend Julio Cesar Chavez TEQUILA, arranging "Hispanic Media Day" at Warner Bros. VIP Studio Tour, and acquisition of the 250,000+ images comprising the Bill Jones (JET, EBONY) photo library for worldwide licensing: it's been a heady PR & Marketing year!
During the first quarter 2014, alone, we've hosted every major TV show on the planet, from NBC Nightly News to TODAY, CBS Morning News, Jimmy Kimmel, Craig Ferguson, Entertainment Tonight, Extra to The Ellen Show, Piers Morgan, and the BBC, over 200 national-international crews, at client properties & events; over one billion media impressions.
Just back from the TV Critics Association confab, we're off and running with Hollywood & Vine Satellite TV Publicity®, headed up by 20-year Sat TV veteran Louis Sanford. Among the Sat TV clients, Reelz Channel, Spike TV and FOX Home Entertainment, campaigns for PBS - National Memorial Day Concert, Discovery Health & Fit, The Weather Channel - Sam Champion.
At 23, Digney launched his PR career as the first-ever director of public relations for the world's largest live entertainment company, Feld Entertainment (producer-owner of Ringling Bros.-Barnum & Bailey Circus, Disney on Ice®), and helped champion the launch of French-owned Vittel mineral water in the United States and the debut of first-class-only Regent Air (later MGM Grand Air). Almost two decades ago, he became Solters' partner, after being a Solters company executive for years. His mother, Mrs. William Digney, still lives in Needham.

With SaaS use rampant across organizations, how can IT departments track company data and maintain security? More and more departments are commissioning their own solutions and bypassing IT. A cloud environment is amorphous and powerful, allowing you to set up solutions for all of your user needs: document sharing and collaboration, mobile access, e-mail, even industry-specific applications. In his session at 16th Cloud Expo, Shawn Mills, President and a founder of Green House Data, discussed h...

The Software Defined Data Center (SDDC), which enables organizations to seamlessly run in a hybrid cloud model (public + private cloud), is here to stay. IDC estimates that the software-defined networking market will be valued at $3.7 billion by 2016. Security is a key component and benefit of the SDDC, and offers an opportunity to build security 'from the ground up' and weave it into the environment from day one. In his session at 16th Cloud Expo, Reuven Harrison, CTO and Co-Founder of Tufin,...

Container technology is sending shock waves through the world of cloud computing. Heralded as the 'next big thing,' containers provide software owners a consistent way to package their software and dependencies while infrastructure operators benefit from a standard way to deploy and run them. Containers present new challenges for tracking usage due to their dynamic nature. They can also be deployed to bare metal, virtual machines and various cloud platforms. How do software owners track the usag...

Providing the needed data for application development and testing is a huge headache for most organizations. The problems are often the same across companies - speed, quality, cost, and control. Provisioning data can take days or weeks, every time a refresh is required. Using dummy data leads to quality problems. Creating physical copies of large data sets and sending them to distributed teams of developers eats up expensive storage and bandwidth resources. And, all of these copies proliferating...

Malicious agents are moving faster than the speed of business. Even more worrisome, most companies are relying on legacy approaches to security that are no longer capable of meeting current threats. In the modern cloud, threat diversity is rapidly expanding, necessitating more sophisticated security protocols than those used in the past or in desktop environments. Yet companies are falling for cloud security myths that were truths at one time but have evolved out of existence.

Digital Transformation is the ultimate goal of cloud computing and related initiatives. The phrase is certainly not a precise one, and as subject to hand-waving and distortion as any high-falutin' terminology in the world of information technology. Yet it is an excellent choice of words to describe what enterprise IT—and by extension, organizations in general—should be working to achieve. Digital Transformation means: handling all the data types being found and created in the organizat...
