CALGARY, ALBERTA -- (Marketwired) -- 07/25/14 -- One of the world's largest independent exploration and production companies with operations in 27 countries placed a $1.3 million CAD purchase order with Blackline GPS ("Blackline" or the "Company") (TSX VENTURE:BLN). The order consists of the new Loner® Bridge satellite enabled employee safety monitoring system with one year of associated services and will be deployed within the customer's Western Canadian operations. Initial shipments of Bridge and Loner 900 units, including this order, are expected to begin in Blackline's 4th quarter.
"Many enterprises operate in several regions not all covered with traditional cellular communication networks," says Greg Rude, Vice President Sales of Blackline GPS. "Enterprises are looking for lone worker safety monitoring solutions that they can deploy company-wide, enabling seamless operation everywhere, including indoors and well beyond the reach of cellular coverage."
Blackline's award-winning Loner suite of safety monitoring products enables employers to monitor the safety of personnel through a combination of automatic and manual safety alerting features including True Fall Detection®, person-down detection, missed check-in detection, emergency latch, and silent emergency button. When safety incidents occur, Loner safety monitoring devices communicate the employee's identity and precise location to monitoring personnel who are empowered to manage a swift, pinpoint emergency response. Blackline's technology has the capability to improve the outcome of employees who have suffered an injury, health incident, or physical assault.

In this strange new world where more and more power is drawn from business technology, companies are effectively straddling two paths on the road to innovation and transformation into digital enterprises. The first path is the heritage trail – with “legacy” technology forming the background. Here, extant technologies are transformed by core IT teams to provide more API-driven approaches. Legacy systems can restrict companies that are transitioning into digital enterprises. To truly become a lead...

In IT, we sometimes coin terms for things before we know exactly what they are and how they’ll be used. The resulting terms may capture a common set of aspirations and goals – as “cloud” did broadly for on-demand, self-service, and flexible computing. But such a term can also lump together diverse and even competing practices, technologies, and priorities to the point where important distinctions are glossed over and lost.

Video experiences should be unique and exciting! But that doesn’t mean you need to patch all the pieces yourself. Users demand rich and engaging experiences and new ways to connect with you. But creating robust video applications at scale can be complicated, time-consuming and expensive. In his session at @ThingsExpo, Zohar Babin, Vice President of Platform, Ecosystem and Community at Kaltura, discussed how VPaaS enables you to move fast, creating scalable video experiences that reach your aud...
