FOX has partnered with SendUs, the premier User Generated Content (UGC) and audience-engagement technology platform, to effectively create an interactive audience experience and manage the volume of submissions. SendUs technology seamlessly creates fast-paced and instantaneous convergence between broadcast, TV, and digital platforms.

SendUs technology removes the administrative and technical challenges of receiving, processing, and harnessing UGC. This is accomplished through robust features such as easy-to-use engagement interfaces that are seamlessly deployed on the client’s website, Facebook page or mobile app; automatic transcoding of videos; and immediate acquisition of media use rights. The platform includes leading edge content editing and curation tools as well as the downloading of high-resolution videos for broadcast. SendUs also provides a variety of API’s and widgets (applications) for a highly customized experience.

“Our platform is helping forward-thinking media companies, like FOX, transform the traditional one-to-many broadcast model into an interactive ‘conversation’ with the audience,” said Nick Namikas, Co-CEO of SendUs. He added, “In order to be successful in a rapidly-evolving multi-screen and social media world, media companies must continuously engage their audience and harness the incredibly valuable, authentic media they create on a daily basis – SendUs is enabling them to meet this challenge.”

FOX is recognized as an innovator in setting the new standard of utilizing consistent audience interaction to reach a sustainably loyal fan base. The key is in strategically securing and maintaining a devoted connection with a target audience of millennials that rejects traditional advertising and are continually demanding authentic content and brand experiences. Thanks to a myriad of social media platforms that engage fans via online sharing, the authenticity and interaction catapults the fan experience into a loyal group of brand ambassadors. These ambassadors have the power to influence the decisions of peers and turn passive observers into advocates.

Dean Norris, Senior Vice President FOX Marketing & Special Operations, explained, “We ask ourselves, on a daily basis, how we can evolve our distribution methods, customize content and turn as much of our business over to the fans as possible. SendUs provides a simple method for both FOX and our fans/brand ambassadors to share assets and create compelling UCG-type content. In order for us to reach our goals, we needed a collection platform that was easy for the fan to use and functional for FOX in almost any environment. To date, SendUs has been a very flexible partner and GOTHAM is an amazing property with a ravenous fan base. We expect some very positive results from this project.”

In a recent study of Millennials, Edelman, public relations firm, concluded that, with Millennials, Average is over. Brands must act and engage differently to get attention and loyalty. We are in the age of surprise and delight. If you don’t, they will tune you out.

SendUs is designed to enable brands/media companies to create these interactive relationships.

Eighty percent of a data scientist’s time is spent gathering and cleaning up data, and 80% of all data is unstructured and almost never analyzed. Cognitive computing, in combination with Big Data, is changing the equation by creating data reservoirs and using natural language processing to enable analysis of unstructured data sources. This is impacting every aspect of the analytics profession from how data is mined (and by whom) to how it is delivered. This is not some futuristic vision: it's ha...

It's easy to assume that your app will run on a fast and reliable network. The reality for your app's users, though, is often a slow, unreliable network with spotty coverage. What happens when the network doesn't work, or when the device is in airplane mode? You get unhappy, frustrated users. An offline-first app is an app that works, without error, when there is no network connection.

As enterprises work to take advantage of Big Data technologies, they frequently become distracted by product-level decisions. In most new Big Data builds this approach is completely counter-productive: it presupposes tools that may not be a fit for development teams, forces IT to take on the burden of evaluating and maintaining unfamiliar technology, and represents a major up-front expense. In his session at @BigDataExpo at @ThingsExpo, Andrew Warfield, CTO and Co-Founder of Coho Data, will dis...
In most cases, it is convenient to have some human interaction with a web (micro-)service, no matter how small it is. A traditional approach would be to create an HTTP interface, where user requests will be dispatched and HTML/CSS pages must be served. This approach is indeed very traditional for a web site, but not really convenient for a web service, which is not intended to be good looking, 24x7 up and running and UX-optimized. Instead, talking to a web service in a chat-bot mode would be muc...
