Cartera Commerce, the leading provider of omni-channel marketing solutions that increase revenue and customer loyalty, announced that the company’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Karen Cambray has won the Boston Business Journal’s 2014 CFO of the Year Award in the midsize private company category.
Cambray, a Westford resident, was honored at a reception at the Sheraton Boston Hotel on July 24, along with 15 other finalists in five categories. The awards program recognizes CFOs who make a difference in their companies and organizations, with an eye toward community involvement, leadership style and overall ability to guide the company. Other finalists in Cambray’s category included Gregory Meikle, CFO, SencorpWhite, and Paul Nasser, CFO, Intercontinental Real Estate Corp.
“We’re pleased to honor outstanding CFOs in the Boston area,” said Gale Murray, publisher of the BBJ. “CFOs play such a critical role in the success of a company, and Boston has some of the best CFO talent in the country."
As an operational CFO, Cambray is immersed in all facets of the Cartera organization and provides strategic counsel to Cartera’s CEO and President, Tom Beecher, and the company’s board of directors. In 2013, Cambray spear-headed the evaluation of the company’s former in-store offers and, ultimately, helped strategize and implement a significant company reorganization. Under her direction, the company has grown to the largest, two-sided partner and merchant advertising network in the industry.
“Making the decision to shift your business model is a big step that requires sound strategy and analysis. You really need a trustworthy partner,” said Beecher. “Our business pivot would not have been successful without Karen’s strategic advice. She brings a valuable set of problem solving skills to the team and she has demonstrated her worth time and time again.”

There are several IoTs: the Industrial Internet, Consumer Wearables, Wearables and Healthcare, Supply Chains, and the movement toward Smart Grids, Cities, Regions, and Nations. There are competing communications standards every step of the way, a bewildering array of sensors and devices, and an entire world of competing data analytics platforms. To some this appears to be chaos. In this power panel at @ThingsExpo, moderated by Conference Chair Roger Strukhoff, Bradley Holt, Developer Advocate a...
