DALLAS, Aug. 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Securus Technologies announced today that it has acquired the Alternative Monitoring Services (AMS) division, including the related monitoring contracts and personnel, from GSSC. Securus acquired STOP (Satellite Tracking of People LLC), the largest provider of GPS monitoring devices in the world in December, 2013 and is aggressively moving to expand STOP's capabilities in the parolee monitoring and servicing sector.
"We love this transaction in combination with STOP's existing business," said Richard A. ("Rick") Smith, Chief Executive Officer of Securus Technologies. "It expands STOP's reach with additional customers and provides broader service capabilities and expertise that allow STOP to further reduce the workload and costs for government agencies."
"Acquiring the AMS division of GSSC is good for all of the companies involved - Securus, STOP, and GSSC," said Steve Logan, Managing Director of STOP. "GSSC's AMS division expands our presence in the GPS sector and secures additional capabilities to serve our customers. GSSC will focus on their security core business, and Securus builds long term value in the Company. So in this case – it's a win - win - win, and is good for all of us."
"It was natural for us to partner with STOP for this transaction as we have worked with them for several years. We respect the way that they treat their customers, their technology, and the way that they treat their people," said Whitney Miller, CEO and President of GSSC. "This allows us to focus and grow our Security Officer Group, Electronic Protection Group and continue to provide our customers with the latest in protection technologies."
